Naughty Monkey - Cool It (White/Black) - FootwearThis week's shoe gazing post is all about buckled wedding shoes.

Buckled heels, buckled boots, buckled flats. White, red, pink, silver, gold. Big heels, little heels, no heels, platforms … I tried to get a little bit of everything, always imagining how great they would look both peeking out from under a relatively traditional white gown, or as a show piece with tea length dress in some daring color. I tried to get a range of splurgeyness, too — from $60 to $600.

As usual, I like my shoes loud and your tastes may vary. But if you're looking for buckles, ladies, I got you covered…

The offbeat bride: Libby, Pediatric Office Manager/child holder-downer (and OBT member)

Her offbeat partner: Jobe, Central Office Tech

Location & date of wedding: Columbia Park, Portland, OR. — July 26th, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: Jobe wanted a court house wedding, but I have a lot of important friends and family that I wanted to share our day with (I'm a cancer survivor, and eight years ago I wasn't sure if I would ever get to this point in my life). I just wanted to have a big party with vegan and vegetarian food, and promised Jobe a three – five minute ceremony.

The offbeat bride: Fanny, Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Graphic novelist wannabe (and OBT member "Fanny Rdz")

Her offbeat partner: Luis, Helpdesk, geek and muse

Location & date of wedding: Ceremony: Parroquia Sagrado Corazon de Jesus. Reception: Akbal Lounge, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico — October 31th, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: Luis and I where supposed to get married in July of this year in a wedding according to our culture and our families… but we aren't like that (I don't drink, he don't dance, we hate crowds and many other things). On July of 2009 we canceled everything, except our photographer and adventure, to have our wedding for Halloween, to be ourselves.

Unicorn Princess Heels

These are called UNICORN PRINCESS HEELS. Fer real.

In my last shoe post, Alicia left a comment about the shoes she was getting from ModCloth, and I just about keeled over. These shoes to the left? They are called UNICORN PRINCESS HEELS, and that may be the best name of a shoe ever.

Once I saw those, I started clicking around ModCloth's other shoes and gurgle. There went two hours of my life. They have a looooot of awesome shoes. So many that I decided this week I would take a break from my thematic approach and just drool over this one catalog.

If you're ready for this week's batch of wedding shoe inspirashons, grab your tea and let's dive in together, yes?

peep-toe-wedding-shoeOh peep-toe wedding shoes, you little vixens. There's something instantly retro glamor about the peep-toe, especially if you toss in a platform in the front. And maybe a little bow.

That little hint of toe cleavage adds some uber-saucy to a wedding day outfit, and as usual I'm a huge fan of brightly colored shoes even if (or ESPECIALLY if) you're wearing a white dress. I love shoes along the full spectrum of colors … so won't you join me while I get all OMG SHOETH and drool over a rainbow of peep-toe flavors?
