Caroline is our illustrious copyeditor who keeps the editors in check with her grammar whip. She also has some cute photos of her grandparents' wedding from 1944 that were definitely worth showing. You've got to love a dame in a pillbox hat and her uniformed fella.

Here is what Caroline had to say about her grandparents:

My maternal grandparents, Joan and Jim, were married in Alexandria, Egypt, on February 18th, 1944. They were both serving in North Africa: my granny as an ambulance driver with the British army and my grandfather as an engineer with the South African army. My granny sewed her own dress and made her own bouquet, and my grandfather wore his uniform.

On the back of the photo where they are exiting the building, my granny wrote “Being pelted with rice.” They couldn't take any time off after the wedding, but they did get to visit each other in marriage quarters from then on! They celebrated their 67th anniversary this year together in southern Africa, where they've lived since the war ended.
