Let's all admire Kwame's hand-made wedding outfit #Fashion#couples of color#groom gear#long-haired groom Updated Oct 12 2015 (Posted Sep 13 2012) Guest post by Beccaruth My husband is as unconventional as I am, so I was not at all surprised when he decided to wear a tunic and sarong for our wedding. He occasionally wears sarongs, particularly during hot weather or for spiritual occasions where he wants to feel grounded and close to the earth. We had our ceremony in our back yard on June 23, so a sarong made sense. I made the sarong, as well as a tunic and necklace for him. Kwame getting ready in his studio space while I was getting dressed next door. He picked out the fabrics and beads and gave me a basic idea of what he wanted design-wise, and I went from there. I have to say I was pretty happy with how well it turned out. I did a little beading on his tunic to emphasize the spirals in the pattern. He also wore a set of bamboo fighting sticks that had belonged to his father who passed away when he was a teen. His outfit went over surprisingly well. His brother was so impressed that he asked me to make him his own sarong and tunic, and my brother wanted to wear a sarong for the ceremony too. Must have been the sexy legs. Sexy legs, sexy hair, sexy bride, this wedding is a whole lotta sexy. Hopefully we'll hear more about Kwame and Rebecca's wedding soon! Reply I am pleased to see that your man wore a sarong at your wedding, its been worn for years in the past in Hawaii and other cultures too. I wanted my man to wear a sash with a white pants and white shirt ( an Hawaiian tradition) but he would not do that for the wedding. He wore a Hawaiian shirt instead. Great wedding pictures!!
