Don’t miss the tutu-wearing ring dog at this colorful, retro wedding

Peggy and Shawn had a colorful, retro wedding in Kansas City, MO with so many stunning details I didn’t know where to begin. But hey, let’s start with that amazing, minty blue dress! Oh, and their dog Pearl was the ring bearer, the reception had karaoke, dinosaurs, and records, and a family-centric cake topped with a VW!

You’ll be scouring the photos for more of their nerdy and awesome details so get to browsing…

Wait until you see the vintage kitsch at this quirky artist wedding

Sarah and Adam are two talented artists who decided to get married in the quirky compound of Hicksville Pines in Idyllwild, CA. Guests were each given each a ceramic mug that Sarah made, and her wedding altar was something borrowed from a friend that had used it before. Just wait until you see all the retro centerpieces, awesome kitsch details, and granny chic (one of my fave styles!)…

This wedding in Calgary channeled the 1970s and all its macrame glory

This wedding in Calgary channeled the 1970s and all its macrame glory

Retro decor finds, tons of DIYed macrame details, and a ’70s-inspired theme were at the center of this wedding’s aesthetic. But it was the love that got us in the end. Sweet and meaningful song choices, a sweet first look, and some awesome dance moves swept us away in Shannon and Andy’s macrame wedding in Calgary. Don’t miss their sweet young daughter in her flower crown, too!

Travel back to the future after seeing this bitchin' 1980s-themed wedding

Travel back to the future after seeing this bitchin’ 1980s-themed wedding

Ashley and Wendy had a 1980s-themed wedding to end all retro weddings. We’re talking cassette tape centerpieces, boom boxes, hair band photos (with lyrics!), retro-fabulous ’80s wear, and major dance floor shenanigans. If we could channel the soundtrack to this wedding, I think we’d be rocking out HARD. These ladies love the eighties and we love them.

Are you ready to take a Delorean back in time to 1985 where clearly this wedding took place?

Rockabilly meets Doo-Wop meets vintage cars at this retro wedding

Rockabilly meets Doo-Wop meets vintage cars at this retro wedding

I have always loved and been fascinated with the 1950s especially the pin-ups, music, swing dancing, and custom hot rods, so Garrett and I decided to have a rockabilly/Doo-Wop-themed wedding that also incorporated our love for cars.

The ceremony site was decorated with the black/red/white rockabilly theme. To keep the guests thinking this would be a traditional wedding, the DJ played traditional classical music while the guests were taking their seats. After all were seated, the DJ who was actually a Wolfman Jack Impersonator who welcomed everyone in an authentic Wolfman Jack fashion.

Both the ceremony and reception were very focused on family — our siblings were standing up with us on our respective sides, and our parents and siblings were at the "head" table (which was located in the middle of the room). We ditched several traditions (cake-cutting, bouquet toss, etc.) that would eat up time so we could get straight to eating and dancing.

Our getaway car was my motorcycle — my husband jumped on the back and held my dress as we rode away with cans sounding the alarm of our nuptials.
