High fantasy meets a handmade gown at this treehouse camp wedding

High fantasy meets a handmade gown at this treehouse camp wedding

Tierra and Bradley got married at The Treehouse Camp at Maple Tree Campground, a Maryland venue with an ACTUAL HOBBIT HOLE. The guests came in fabulous garb, but nothing compares to the bride’s gown that she designed her damn self. She bought the amazing corset and then crafted the leaf-adorned tulle skirt to match. Bradley channeled hobbits with this outfit and acorn boutonniere. Plus, there was a hooded cloak involved which we very much dig. Don’t miss the hawk delivering the rings!

Offbeat Bride interview about Renaissance weddings on NPR’s Here & Now and Houston Public Radio

As a lifelong Renaissance Faire goer, I always have a soft spot for Ren Faire and fantasy weddings, as evidenced by the abundance of them (13 pages!) in this archive.

We love to jam about wedding trends, so when Houston’s Public Radio and NPR’s Here & Now wanted to talk shop about geeky fantasy weddings and weddings at Ren Faires, we were so down.

We're fantasizing about this warrior meets fairy wedding

We’re fantasizing about this warriors meet fairies wedding

Lori and Josh planned their warriors meet fairies wedding with so much style. The story went as follows, “A mismatched group of warriors (the groomsmen) got lost in their travels during a storm and stumbled into the forest of the fairies (the wedding reception and ceremony). And the war chief fell in love with one of the fairies and so a wedding was called for.” With mismatched decor of clocks, water pitchers, bird cages, old books, and candelabras, they made a lovely setup for the makeshift wedding.

Caribbean pirate wedding on Halloween

Ships ahoy at a Caribbean pirate wedding on Halloween

Erin and Stephen had a Caribbean pirate wedding on Limetree Beach that we can’t get enough of. What’s a pirate wedding without some multicolored mermaid hair anyway, right? Plus, it was on Halloween and we’re rolling around like happy dogs knee-deep in spooky-themed weddings right now. Their guest dressed as pirates and the officiant even used pirate-speak. Are you ready for this pirate Halloween wedding? Everyone say “YAAAARRR!”

This satyr cosplay engagement brings serious magic to our Renaissance-loving hearts

Janee and Bill love all things Renaissance, and in unique fashion, Bill proposed to Janee at the Colorado Renaissance Festival. They also love cosplay and Janee creates all of their costuming herself, including these amazing satyr costumes for this year’s Ren fest. On the opening weekend of the festival, Bill proposed with a gorgeous leaf silhouette ring.

For this satyr cosplay engagement session, they capitalized on all her hard work by spending the evening at Fountain Creek Nature Center, south of Colorado Springs. The pair passed out wildflower seeds to passersby and stole our nerdy hearts in the process. If THIS is their engagement session, what will their wedding bring? No pressure, guys…
