A DIYed darkly romantic wedding with pagan details & vegan fare

Megan and Nick planned an ultra gorgeous pagan meets vegan wedding, most of which was completely DIYed. They have a super strong community of family and friends and the entire day was relaxed and romantic. You won't believe how much love and care went in to all the details of the day. This darkly romantic wedding was a DIY dream and I can't wait for you to see it.

It's all about chic dark romance at this pagan wedding in Maryland

As the artist and owner of a candle and witchcraft supply store, Lily had a specific vision for her and Joe's October wedding which included some Pagan elements. When her florist went out of business just before the wedding, Lily decided to do all her own decor. Keep an eye out for the candles with glittery sigils, a flower petal circle to get married in, and the besom they jumped over.

Our big gay pagan rainbow woodland festival wedding

We had guests from as far apart as Japan, California, and Germany. We tried to invoke all the things we loved in our wedding day — geeky nods to Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, Jonathan Coulton, and the Lord of the Rings; the Obergefell v Hodges ruling for Jess's career and theatrical touches for mine. We asked our guests to wear 'whatever makes you feel pretty.' We then celebrated with ice cream, lawn games, and street food, and ended the evening with a ceilidh and session. Oh, and there was an owl, and llamas.

A Midsummer night's dream meets Alice in Wonderland fantasy wedding

I decided early on I wanted to be a mystical fairy goddess for the wedding. We are both nerds, so there were many "easter eggs" hidden in parts of our wedding for people to find, from "game over" music at the end of the night to messages hidden in binary code on our save-the-dates. We are both feminists, so it was also very important to leave behind the more traditional, patriarchal, gender-specific parts of American weddings. Don't miss the flower crowns on BOTH of them!
