We were going for if Wes Andersen threw an early ’00s high school dance in the forest. We wanted lots of nerdy pop culture touches, but nothing too heavy-handed. We were in the same nerdy friend group in high school and actually dated for two weeks before going out separate ways. I was married to someone else for a decade but when that ended we reconnected. We have all the same friends and even the same godkids, so our wedding was like a giant reunion.
While y’all know we love big, colorful, and wild wedding themes, we also totally love simple, pared down, and more romantic themes just as much. So with warmer weather looming and outdoor weddings taking center stage for spring and summer, I wanted to explore what nature themed wedding details and boho wedding details I could find that fit a more natural and organic aesthetic. You don’t have to imagine it, because I’ve got just such a wedding. Marcella and Jimmy chose a gorgeous fall day for their Seymour, TN elopement.
Sam and Zig wanted a big DIY event, but splurged on the things that were most important to them, like their epic yellow and white flowers. The color perfectly match the heat of the day (a heat index of 105F!). Just wait until you see their gorgeous ceremony arch. In lieu of a big formal reception, these two beer lovers had a dinner and a pub crawl through Philly as their ceremony after-party.
