It's vintage love at this quirky thrift shop engagement shoot

It’s vintage love at this quirky thrift shop engagement shoot

We dreaded the idea of a lovey-dovey shoot with butterfly kisses, so we agreed to just not have engagement photos done. BUT then we were granted this really awesome opportunity to shoot our engagement session with an awesome photographer who loves out-of-the-norm wedding photos, and we had the idea to shoot at Goodwill.

It was like a giant closet to play in for the day…

Retro cars, popcorn, & an adorable pair at this vintage drive-in movie engagement session

An old vintage sofa, a hot retro car, Coca Cola, popcorn, and an adorable couple perfectly combine for this vintage drive-in movie engagement session. Dara and Michael are perfectly adorable in their subtly retro outfits at the Dixie Twin Drive-In in Dayton, Ohio with shots in the car, in front of a huge sign featuring them(!), and some dramatic poses.

Wedding vendors we love

The most fun wedding ideas we saw this month

This month brought us some super goosebumps-giving moments like those Harry Potter socks, gorgeous gray hair, perfectly mismatched bridesmaids, wedding cartwheels, and even a treehouse venue. Here are some of the best photos we saw in the past month from the amazing vendors in our Offbeat Vendor Guide.

From acrobatic and monochromatic engagement shots to mohawks and a lush wedding video, here are a few of the stand-outs…

We are loving this edgy coastal engagement shoot with lots of ink

We are loving this edgy coastal engagement shoot with lots of ink

Tanna and Michael’s edgy coastal engagement shoot was at sunrise(!) at Catherine Hill Bay, north of Sydney, Australia. An abandoned rusting pier and graffiti art was the first backdrop to capture the essence of these two inked up hotties.

And then it became pure, moody romance with the sun peeking out between clouds along the rocky shore.

Love has NO color: how I found the man who embraced my dark skin

Love has NO color

My color has always defined me for as long as I can remember. I am a very dark, black woman. If you’re aware of what’s been happening to my people and women (since the beginning of time) who look like me, you may know exactly what this means. I’M A VERY DARK, BLACK WOMAN — enough said. Being me comes with a lot of judgement and I’ve had my fair share of ridicule.

Cue years of self-doubt, years of undoing the very horrible thoughts you created in your head because you actually started to believe the things that were being spewed at you for years on end. Fast forward to my mid-twenties and cue the love of my life…

pear shaped rings

Remember when pear-shaped engagement rings were controversial? They’re not anymore…

Remember WAY back in 2001 when Carrie Bradshaw wigged TF out when Aidan planned to propose with a pear-shaped diamond on Sex and the City? The even weirder part was that she balked at yellow gold, which of course is back with a vengeance now. It seems like a very long time ago.

I wanted to see what was going on in the world of the pear and how weird and gorgeous and HUGE they could get. So I went a-hunting. I’m totally going to cheat by including some non-diamonds in here, too. Fight me. Let’s shop!
