Where do I even begin with all of these killer pop culture references in this geeky swords and wands wedding? The groom, Jon, wore 10th Doctor-inspired suit and accessories, there were Sword Art Online swords, Harry Potter wands, and gorgeous wings (made my a Victoria’s Secret wing creator!).
But really, the stand-out here is Kate’s majestic Mak Tumang gown that steals the show.
A geeky Moulin Rouge wedding with burlesque & a Doctor Who-themed first dance
We had a Moulin Rouge theme! There was a cabaret group routine to kickoff the ceremony. We had a quick change from the ceremony to tango dress that had a Doctor Who Theme Song with a custom dance routine. There was lots of DIY crafted decor by my mother-in-law and bridesmaid accessories made by me. You don’t want to miss this one!

This is the story of how my boyfriend proposed at the end of a surprise, Seattle-wide, Doctor Who scavenger hunt proposal. He spent months preparing for this, and his efforts really paid off! Weeks earlier, he’d told me to block out that day in my calendar for a surprise. I’m like a cat (curiosity “kills” me), so when the day finally arrived, I was eager to know what his plans were. Little did I know, they were EPIC.

We had a geek adventure wedding theme, incorporating a few of our favorite things in every way we could (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, The Elder Scrolls, Dungeons & Dragons, The Princess Bride, Game of Thrones, Firefly, New World Magischola, and more). We encouraged everyone to come in costume (and most did! With props!), and we made wands as favors, as well as rheoscopic fluid potion bottles, dragon eggs, and all of the food (from our fandoms).
