Jewel tones & sweet music tones at this flower-filled brewery wedding in Philly

Without a doubt, we knew we wanted our wedding to be colorful. I've always been drawn to bohemian decor and rich hues, so it was a no-brainer that we would tie in jewel tones and gold for our small touches. I gave each of my bridesmaids a color and let them go to town. It was fun to see them each choose a dress that fit their individual styles. (Don’t miss all the amazing song choices in this one, y’all!)

Sam and Zig wanted a big DIY event, but splurged on the things that were most important to them, like their epic yellow and white flowers. The color perfectly match the heat of the day (a heat index of 105F!). Just wait until you see their gorgeous ceremony arch. In lieu of a big formal reception, these two beer lovers had a dinner and a pub crawl through Philly as their ceremony after-party.

Velvet, vegans, & Vincent Price: a moody goth-lite wedding

Our theme was affordable moody goth-lite with nods to Halloween and heavy on the velvet. The wedding party were all in velvet jewel tones but were allowed to accessorize as they wished, which included spider brooches and skull pins for the boutonnieres. Each table was marked with a different horror icon and the hall was decorated with spider webs, pumpkins, gourds, and lanterns. The linens for the tables were orange and purple, very Halloween colors. There were Halloween-inspired cocktails served in blood bags and a black vegan cake…

The trick to colorful, authentic, and totally you wedding photos? THIS Philly wedding photographer

Philly photographer Justin Heyes is one of our favorite wedding photographers with a seriously interesting background. Not only does he capture all kinds of amazing offbeat weddings, write as an industry expert for photography magazines, and generally own the space in creative photography, but he used to work with photography and lighting at QVC — yep, the home shopping channel. It gave him a really diverse array of skills when it comes to making stage lighting more exciting and capturing details. But will it translate to capturing your wedding? Just wait until you see the proof.

We decided to do an old school Champagne and Cake reception immediately following the wedding in the same space, the Philadelphia Wedding Chapel. The chapel is a decorated, NY-style loft space and you simply show up. We hired musicians on our own as live music was not included. The wedding and reception was ninety minutes total at 3:00pm. Only twenty-six people were in attendance.

A surprise proposal engagement in Philadelphia

Jill proposed to her partner Duby (in that hat!) a few months prior to their engagement session. But here’s the twist: Duby decided to propose back to Jill during their shoot when they arrived at the Race Street Pier in Philly for some more photos. Jill didn’t expect to get a ring until the wedding day, so this was a total surprise to her, as you can see! It was quite a surprise proposal.
