You've heard me gush about the incredible wedding photography talent that is our sponsor Lauren McGlynn. Remember when I compared viewing her photos to shooting up virtual drugs? Or when I explained why I can't stop blog-stalking her? How about the time we ooh-ed and ahh-ed over her pics of Lotte and David's superfantastic funtime wedding?

This time, when we catch up with our Edinburgh-based wedding photographer friend, we're going to be doing something different… telling you all about her Christmas advent calendar blogging project that raises money for Syrian refugees. There are also prizes involved, including the chance to win a two-hour photo shoot of your choice!

From now until December 25, 2013, Lauren will be updating her blog every day with a new post containing some kind of Christmas-related awesomeness. There are up-cycled Christmas crafting projects, an awesome alternative Christmas playlist, a green gift guide, and much more. Lauren's focus is on celebrating Christmas in a way that is environmentally friendly, and not so over-the-top commercial/cliché that it makes you want to say "bah humbug."

What's that about Syria, you ask?

Lauren explains:

After seeing a particularly distressing video, I found myself typing the search "how can I help Syrian refugees?" into Google and one of the suggestions was to hold a fundraiser. I was dubious. Meanwhile, I was considering Christmas. I confess that as I've gotten older, my enthusiasm for Christmas has waned with every passing year. So I started thinking of ways to get back into the spirit of it all, and my Syria fundraising Advent calendar project was born!

Which brings me to the prizes!

Every Monday of December, Lauren will announce a fabulous Christmas-themed prize. To enter to win either donate to her fundraiser for Syrian refugees or (if you're not able to make a donation) share her Just Giving page on some kind of social media, and let her know in the comments of that week's prize post. There is no minimum donation.

Every week Lauren will choose a winner at random, and then announce the winner at the same time as she announces the next weekly prize. Most weekly prizes can be shipped anywhere in the world.

What does this have to do with weddings?

On Christmas Eve, Lauren will randomly draw a winner from everyone who has either donated or shared, and that person will win a two hour photo shoot of their choice (in Edinburgh). If she reaches her fundraising goal of £1000, she'll draw two winners!

And because she's such a big fan of our readers, she's also offering a special discount…
