Encourage spontaneous wedding singing as you walk down the aisle

Guests burst into song as Briavael and Nikki danced down the aisle after their ceremony, perfectly capturing the joy and festivity of the day. If spontaneous wedding singing on the way out of your own ceremony sounds like a winning idea, I suggest you follow Briavael and Nikki's lead and nudge the spontaneity along.

The couple printed the lyrics to their exit song (“Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes) in their program. They also handed out kazoos so those who prefer not to sing could still make some perfectly acceptable noise.

I'm no singer, but I would happily croak along to “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis & The News. Just sayin'. Need inspiration? We've got a list of wedding standard songs just for you.

Tell me, Offbeat Brides. What would you want people to serenade you with as you're dancing down the aisle?

  1. isn’t planing to nudge/encourage people to sing during a certain seconds-long time frame of your wedding kind of… making the spontaneous part of the story invalid?

    • Eh. It could be “spontaneous lite”. You could prime one or two friends to start a particular song and then just… see what happens.

  2. favorite part of my wedding was walking down the aisle – I hadn’t even thought of any kind of wedding music to go along with walking down the aisle – so we are outside and as my dad and I start walking, my whole wedding party just kind of starts singing the traditional wedding march, “Da dum da-dum!” It was super cheesy and hilarious and by far one of my favorite moments.
