Nicole and Melissa's Washington wedding at Nature's Connection Place is one for the books! For starters, they had hand-crafted “gride” and “broom” signs for their chairs and were wed by a bearded be-glittered drag queen member of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who officiated while rocking a massive rainbow sequined headdress. There were hints of purple in everything from the couple's matching boutonnieres to the violets cascading down the side of their wedding cake.

  1. Now THAT is a wedding I would have been honoured to be a part of- so awesome!

  2. Love this! The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are the best! It looks like a wonderfully happy day.

  3. Hi all!

We are the happy couple. Thank you for a wonderful blog and sweet comments. We poured our hearts into designing every detail (even the invitations) of our wedding and really made it our own. We believe we succeeded in beautifully melding our cultural and spiritual backgrounds with harmony. Our guests contributed their warm positive energy. We are specially grateful to all of our amazing vendors, who were truly a perfect match for us and all of whom are incredibly talented. In addition to those listed, we wanted to ensure the following vendors are recognized:

Gride & Broom Signs: Watson’s Wooden Words (www.signsinwood.com)

    Video: Edit1Media (www.edit1media.com)

Jumping Broom: Skagit BroomWorks (www.skagitbroomworks.com). They make the brooms by hand with true passion. We found them online but meeting them in person was an amazing experience. They are amazing people.

To everyone who helped make our special day unforgettable… THANK YOU!!!

  4. I love the picture of you mildly flashing the camera. And the one with the super serious bejeweled officiant. This looks crazy awesome!

    • I actually gasped out loud when I saw the sparkly rainbow headdress and then started plotting how I could get it for my wedding!

  5. I THOUGHT that looked like Krissy Fiction! She’s fabulous, and a very kind person in real life too. 🙂

    • We love Krissy too, as well as Sisters Flo and Shomi who honored us with their presence at our event as well. And yes, they are awesome people in there secular lives as well. Most Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are.

  6. I just have to say that only on OBB will you ever see a wedding blog post with that title.

    I love the photos – congratulations! 😀

  7. Those tuxes look AWESOME. I mean, everything’s pretty and cool, but the outfits are really great!

  8. WHY IS NO ONE ELSE FREAKING OUT ABOUT THAT AMAZEBALLS CAKE????

I mean, I guess the rest of it is so goddamn beautiful as well, that the cake kind of blends in with the awesome vibe, but HOLY COW.

Seriously, though, this looks like the most fun that could possibly ever be had at a wedding ever.

  9. These pictures remind me of what a fantastic day this was. As the owner of the venue I have to say this was one of the most creative and heart felt weddings we had ever seen. Nicole and Melissa, as well as their families and friends, were such a joy to work with. I felt honored to be a part of it all. Yes, that cake too! So amazing! The day was beautiful in every way from beginning to end!
    The pictures say it all!

  10. The gride and broom’s flowered headpieces made me giggle. In a good way. Clearly fun people! Wishing you many happy years 🙂
