Seattleites, sit down and get ready to meet your wedding venue. Urban Light Studios is new Seattle wedding ceremony and reception venue in an eccentric 1920s building in Greenwood. The antithesis to a blah hotel ballroom, Urban Light Studios has all these amazing rooms for your guests to explore:
- Tiki Room with “Lamar” the 9′ Roosevelt-era lion
- Log Cabin Room salvaged from the set of Northern Exposure
- 1920's Opium Den-style China Room
- The library, a modern take on Grandpa's study
- Main Space with dramatic tile and vaulted ceilings
Oh and plus? They have a large outdoor patio and an optional art gallery/photo studio where you could hang family photos or favorite artwork, or set up a full fledged fashion shoot for your guests.
Oh my God, girls. Wait until you see the pictures. This is venue porn at its finest.
Urban Light Studios can accommodate up to 250 for a standing reception, or 200 seated in their various rooms. They can do ceremonies for 100 seated, or 150+ standing.

Their basement is home to artist studios and galleries, a hub of the Seattle urban contemporary art scene. In fact, the entire space is run by artists, for artists (the owner is also a photographer by trade).

The owner told me: “Our offbeat mantra – shocking really – is that a wonderfully memorable wedding can be affordable too. We keep our venue fees as low as possible and have partnered with talented vendors from caterers to florists who share our creative vision AND can work on any budget. We truly believe that too much of the wedding industry is grossly overpriced.

As you may have heard, the Lovesick Expo is embarking on a nationwide tour alongside our professional besties at Offbeat Bride. Our goal has always... Read more

Urban Light Studios actually offered to host an Offbeat Bride event, but I'm too exhausted to organized one which is sad because the space is FUCKING AMAZING. Will one you please get married here and let me crash your wedding? They just opened in January, so they still have some prime Summer 2010 weekend dates available, although I can also see this as being the perfect location for dramatic fall and winter weddings.
Seattleites, you can go get a feel for the space during Urban Light Studios' monthly gallery openings, the 2nd Friday each month from 6-10p –- nights filled with artists and musicians — or you can schedule a walk-through.
And now, please go gawk at the amazing venue porn photos.
Guh.
Ummm…holy crap cats that place is awesome. We’re getting married Spring/Summer of 2011, and this place seriously just moved to the top of the “OMG MUST CHECK OUT” list.
*squee*
Sooo.. ummm… we just checked it out today for a potential wedding venue, and…
OMGITSAWESOME!!! (Yeah, didn’t add the apostrophe in there to avoid disrupting the flow, but OMGOMGOMG)
I just wet myself a little when we decided to book tonight. Yep, nothing else compared! 😀
I work with this talented group of people. They are pretty much the most kick ass people to run a venue. And the photos don’t even do that place justice. Not even close. Everyone should head down there for an art walk.
Yeah, I’m thinking I’m definitely going to go check out Art Walk…
You do realize all of the tribe is currently in event planning mode correct? Tell us what you want and we’ll plan it.
What the who now? Email me!
I’m working on my second draft. Sending it out soon.
Let me just say this place is even more amazing in person and now it is under new management. The initiative I’ve experienced here was impressive! I wish I knew this place was under new management before booking our venue. This was our first choice! Brides, check it out!
What is the price range for this facility?
it’s great! It’s 1200-1500 to rent for 8 hours, and no food or beverage minimums! Not to mention you get a GREAT photography package if you book with them!
We’re booking this for our wedding next summer (2011). Our deposit’s going in next month!! Can’t say how EXCITED I AM!
Please direct us to some amazing photos of the wedding there!!
