A Damn Fine Wedding - Twin Peaks Themed

The Offbeat Bride: Megan, Digital Marketing

Her offbeat partner: Jason, Quality Assurance Tester

Date and location of wedding: Log Cabin at the Presidio, San Francisco, CA — September 29, 2013

Our offbeat wedding at a glance: Our wedding was a Twin Peaks-themed wedding. Yep, the crazy David Lynch TV series. Our favors were Double R Diner coffee cups, donuts, and a candy box that looked like Dale Cooper's Sony Tape recorder. We even had two photo booths with “The Black Lodge” and “Miss Twin Peaks” backdrop!

Tell us about the ceremony:
Our officiant Celia, who was also our planner, made sure to include both traditional aspects as well as Twin Peaks quotes from the TV show in our ceremony. Here is an excerpt from our ceremony:

As you may know, the theme for this wedding is the movie and popular TV show Twin Peaks. One of the main characters is a crazy Log Lady who, to quote her, said something just perfect for Megan and Jason: ‘The beautiful thing about treasure is that it exists. It exists to be found. How beautiful it is to find treasure. Where is the treasure, that when found, leaves one eternally happy? I think we all know it exists. Some say it is inside us — inside us one and all. That would be strange. It would be so near. Then why is it so hard to find, and so difficult to attain?'

The treasure that we speak of now is the bond of love that Megan and Jason are sharing with us today. Their treasure, their love… it marks the beginning of a new era for them. Although tomorrow they may wake up feeling the same as always, the steps they take together from here on out will be with a new bond, a new promise and each step will be with the acknowledgement that they walk together no matter how far apart they may be from each other.

Our biggest challenge:
We live in London, however our family and friends live in San Francisco. Planning a wedding in a completely different country was a huge challenge! We had to completely rely on photos, reviews, and our communication with vendors to plan the wedding.

Family wants and needs were also a challenge. The theme of Twin Peaks was not widely accepted, so we had to find a balance between an unusual theme and a tasteful wedding. We hired Celia of Celia Rose, Inc to assist in the planning process. She helped us pull all the details together and assisted in finding just the perfect balance between theme and traditions.

My favorite moment:
Our first dance was very meaningful. We danced to Nick Cave's “What Can I Give You” and then invited everyone on the dance floor for Jawbreaker's “Jinx Removing.” It highlighted both of our personalities, and other than the ceremony, it was the most magical moment of the evening for me.

Comments on A Damn Fine Wedding: Megan & Jason’s Twin Peaks wedding

  1. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!! As a huge Twin Peaks fan this is the the damn finest wedding I’ve ever seen!!!! Seriously perfection! I am so impressed and more than a little bit jealous! Congratulations! And now I will give you both a little piece of marital advice in the immortal words of Special Agent Dale Cooper, “I’m going to let you in on a little secret: every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it; don’t wait for it; just let it happen.”

    Once again, amazing wedding!

    • Kelly! I am so glad you loved the details of the wedding. We actually were able to fit that wonderful quote in during the ceremony as well. Who knew that Twin Peaks had so many great quotes?

    • The dress was purchased off of Ebay and tailored to fit Megan with a corset on. The red petticoat was purchase separately.

  2. What a lovely couple and a wedding. Beautiful dress and scenery! Congratulations
