Rollerskating wedding #Wedding Inspo#bay area#colorful#short dress Updated Oct 12 2015 (Posted Nov 18 2009) Ariel findyourafterglow Many thanks to photographer Michelle Hayes for submitting these fabulous photos of Liz & Dave's rollerskating wedding to the Offbeat Bride photo pool! I'm especially taken with Liz's bubbly uber-ruffled pink Betsy Johnson wedding dress — it makes me think of a cupcake or some other sugary baked good begging for some om-nom-nomming: I'm not sure how Michelle managed to make the roller rink lighting turn so lush and delicious, but the photos are screaming with color and out of this world… To see lots more photos and get more information this awesome East Bay rollerskate wedding, head over to Michelle Hayes' blog! I used to play roller derby and I can tell you I have actually thought about having a wedding on skates 😀 Reply As a derby girl myself, I had the same thoughts. That is, until my partner pointed out that he doesn't skate, nor do many of our friends and that it could potentially turn into team party (or just me showing off on skates) instead of 'our' wedding. Reply ditto! I had roller skating hen party madness instead 🙂 Reply Wow, this is one of the coolest, most unique weddings I've seen on here. This is what I love about OBB – I pop over from other wedding sites feeling like I'm not good enough; then I get here and there's such a good UNIQUE vibe going on with everything I see… it's so refreshing. Keep projecting the good self-esteem boosting vibes! Reply My thoughts exactly! This site is the perfect counter-balance to marthastewart.com! Reply Loved this! Wanted to rent the old rink for a 30th b-day, but they only allowed it after midnight! Props to a couple who obviously had fun. Reply Verrry cool. I'd kill myself on those skates, but that's awesome! Reply That Betsey Johnson dress is to die for! It's perfect with the roller skates! I love it all… Reply wow!! i never thought of that!! what a great idea!! i love the pink and ivory in your dress too!! Reply Lighting stuff: Looks like some Par can fixtures, trackspots, lasers, with ladder truss to hang it all from. This does look like it might be an installed lighting package at the roller rink, but you can get this look at any indoor locale. If you want an effect like this for your wedding, call around to entertainment rental houses in your area, some offer rental packages for individuals. You can usually use the same company to have some guys go to the venue and set it all up for you. I work at such a place, and unfortunately could not use the toys as we had planned to have the ceremony in a garden. Hope the tip helps you if you are interested in cool lighting! Reply Wow! My friends just got married on Saturday in a rollerskating wedding in Baltimore! She's a derby-gal. Reply I hate to play favorites, but this very well might be my favorite OBB wedding! OMG, the dress! The roller skates! How awesome!! And leg warmers to boot! Reply amazing! love the pink cupcake dress! Reply OMG! I used to skate at The Golden Skate ALL THE TIME when I was 14! How fun to see it used for a wedding venue. I love it! Reply im having a roller skating wedding in 2011!!! im so very super excited!!! im not a durby girl tho, im a badass tutu girl….i will however be wearing my new durby skates with my hot pink wheels :] im happy i saw this becuase i didnt know how eveyone should dress….i like this miss match dresses alot! and i think the boys should match but with different fucky colorful ties! Reply This is so cute! My fiancé and I are style skaters (like the ATL and Roll Bounce movies). We aren't having our ceremony at a rink, but I am looking for ways to incorporate skating into our reception. (There's actually a national event going on in the city we're getting married in that weekend.) Reply Join the conversation Cancel ReplyYour email address will not be published.
