You guys know I love me some Renaissance faires. Partnering with one of our longtime faves, Waxahachie, Texas' Scarborough Renaissance Festival, makes me swoon for all the Renaissance weddings that we'll see in the future. We're talking corsets, pirates, period music, pike arches, and the most epic and adventure-inspiring venue ever. Let's talk about what you'll get that you won't see at other weddings when you have a Renaissance fest wedding…

A super shmancy historical venue

Period music, a reserved wedding garden and private pavilion, a gorgeous bouquet, flower garlands — it's ambience city here, folks. Scarborough Renaissance Festival offers Renaissance weddings that can be themed in many different ways: lords and ladies of the court, knights and their ladies in waiting, English villagers and wenches, Celtic, pirates, and tons of other options. Costuming is available to rent or you can wear your own chosen garb.

You're not likely to easily find such an awesomely-themed 16th century world with dragons, castles, and ambient extras for your historical wedding. Add in the Renaissance-themed music — harps, dulcimers, and minstrels. They'll totally create your world.

A pike arch

Want a killer photo opportunity after your ceremony? A pike arch for you to walk under is one of those historical touches that totally makes the photo album.

A Renaissance-themed feast

Scarborough Renaissance Festival provides a Renaissance feast including big ol' turkey legs, rogue sandwiches, chicken-on-a-stake, breads, and other yummies for your hulking post-battle guests.

You can also snag a pair of limited edition Scarborough goblets presented by a member of the Royal Court and a special bottle of Scarborough Mead with which to toast.

Monsters, dungeons, and kings

This goes without saying, but you're at a Ren fest! Your reception can include shows, musicians, performers, acrobats, comedians, games, shops, and of course, access to some of the best artisan vendors anyone planning a wedding could ask for. The Scarborough Renaissance Festival also boasts a Mythical Monster Museum, the Dungeon of Yorkshire Tower, a petting zoo, archery, jousting, and about a million other attractions. I dare you to try not to have fun. Plus, you're the STAR of it all! Have you seen some of our Renaissance weddings? Talk about becoming royalty for a day.

Oh, and check out your fest's special event weekends to match your specific theme. Scarborough Renaissance Festival has a Royal Ale Festival, Celtic weekend, Live the Fantasy weekend, and a Legends of the Sea weekend. Please let us know if you end up choosing a kilt-filled Celtic weekend… because reasons.
