A few weeks ago, a reader suggested I do a round up not of shoes that I like, but of shoes that actual real honest-to-god Offbeat Bride readers have actually really honest-to-god worn at their real weddings. I LOVE THIS IDEA!

Over on the Offbeat Bride Tribe, I asked a few Tribesmaids to share their weddings shoes, which I have lovingly compiled below in this post. So if you want shoes that are actually walkable, wearable, and not just my weird delusions about what looks awesome, here we go…

  1. My husband and I wore purple Converse with our wedding date embroidered on the back. Bonus: I still wear them all the time!

  2. Heh heh, I went with aesthetics over walkability – lace-up knee-high, bright red, 5.5" platform heeled-boots. I will admit that by the time the ceremony and cocktail hour was over, I was very glad to slip into something with a kitten heel, but you know what – I loved those boots, and I still do. (I need to find more excuses to wear them out…)

So, high five for weird delusions of what looks awesome!

  3. I actually had three pairs of wedding shoes. I didn't do it intentionally, it just kind of happened. I'm not really a shoe girl but I got all fan girl on my wedding shoes. Links to m wedding shoes included.

I found these great black boots that I wanted. They're like, knee-high, short stacked heel, witch boots from the Nine West Karen Elson vintage Americana collection (these: I loved them, although I had really been looking for ankle booties.

I already had them when I found a pair of Irregular Choice Abigail's Party booties that were so gorgeous I had to have them — ankle-high boots, black (sequins!) and tan, fluffy black ribbons for ties (these:

And then I knew that I would end up out of my heels by the time the dancing started, and we had all the guys wearing Converse sneakers so while I ordered my husband's custom shoes I ordered myself a pair too. I love, love them (these:

I ended up wearing the lace-up boots while we took photos (in a pumpkin patch — the stacked heel kept me stable in the fields), wore the ankle boots for the ceremony and special dances (the stilettos made me not trip on my dress), and wore the Converse for the remainder of the night (yay, comfort!). I still wear all three pair and adore them all.

    • Those are my shoes! And I originally found them on a shoe post here (thanks @arielmeadow)! They're SUPER comfy and gorgeous 😀

  4. Woohoo, Converse made the list! I hand-embroider Cons and other flatties for weddings and gifts – get in touch if you'd like your own personalised shoes for your big day! Xx

  5. Ah, I'm sad I missed this post on the tribe!

I wore these for the outdoor ceremony and pictures (in Olive):

And these for the reception and indoor pictures: (I got them from Journeys)

I still wear the shoes and boots regularly. (Well, the boots less often since the snow melted, but it's coming baaaaaaack!)

  6. To whoever those "Dance Instead of Walking" heels from Modcloth, THANK YOU!!!!!! I've been wanting something just like that! I'm just wondering how wide they are, and how cream vs. white they actually are. 🙂

  7. I like the Converse. I feel like someone wearing Converse, understand how to have fun at their wedding. You get to dance the night away without your feet hurting, or having to take off your shoes.

    • I planned to end up with no shoes-all the fun events have ended me busting a move on the dance floor sans shoes, why would my wedding be any different? Although my husband wore cons, we were all about the comfy.
