Learn more about our ads. How we feel after seeing Serena's work! When we met Serena and started to scope out her website, my favorite page was her About page. The moment I started scrolling, I could totally see what an adorable, SCA-nerd, Alice in Wonderland wedding-having, belly dancing, super hard working photographer she is. And when it comes to an offbeat wedding, it PAYS to have a photographer who absolutely gets you. Philadelphia-based wedding and boudoir photographer Serena Star is about it. Another reason we love Serena and her work: she's a total ROMANTIC. She loves love and gets super excited about all of your ideas, helping figure out details, and generally just being your go-to for warm fuzzies and reassurance. And that's how you want your vendors to be, right? 100% there for you, ready to get your wedding on, and excited for your new life. That's Serena and it's why we heart her… Let's meet offbeat cheerleader Serena! Here's a little from Serena herself, in her own words… I’m Serena, A little bit fun, a little bit odd, all wrapped up into mint chocolate chip ice cream. So I’m that girl. You know, that Disney princess style hopeless romantic. The one who bawls her eyes out at a theater, reads way too many fantasy style romance novels, and believes that faeries really did steal your car keys and shove them under the bed. I offer wedding and boudoir photography. My goal is to tell the story of the wedding. I’m a huge hopeless romantic so all the emotions of a wedding day give me happy butterflies. When I have a couple that is just so in love and I can capture that, it's the best feeling in the world. Photography is more than just a job to me — it’s about meeting people and making connections. I don’t just want to be another vendor checked off a list. My husband and I are both artists. Dave is a musician, realistic graphite artist, and spins poi (fire spinning), and I grew up as a theater geek, a touch of burlesque in my modeling, and belly dance, among other things. We do medieval reenactment. We had a super offbeat wedding ourselves in 2015 with an Alice in Wonderland theme. We went off the beaten path and had our wedding at a campground where we had a whimsical ceremony and then partied the night away with fire dancers, contact juggling, belly dancing, a drum circle around a fire, and more. Seriously: if you're feeling insecure about your offbeat wedding choices (p.s. don't!), you won't get one batted eyelash from Serena. She's offbeat, she's chill AF, and she'll bring her epic talents to make sure ALL your offbeat choices are on display in your photos. She'll capture all the fun, the real emotion, and your authentic personalities. Serena is LOVED by her clients Let's hear from a couple of Serena's past clients to see if she's worth the hype (spoiler: she is!)… "Serena is absolutely amazing! My husband and I knew we wanted her to shoot our wedding from the first time we met her. She is professional, talented and really knows her stuff…a huge bonus is that she is also super sweet! Planning a wedding and coordinating vendors is so stressful, but working with someone like Serena was just the best. Her prices are so reasonable, she takes so many photos and they are all gorgeous! We used Serena for both our engagement photos and the wedding, both sets turned out stunning. She knows exactly when to get the best light and it shows in her work. What we really loved about her is that she takes time to get to know the couples she works with; to see what's important for her to capture on the day and to show a little bit of our personality as well. What you don't realize is how much time you spend with your photographer on your wedding day, so you should pick someone that you feel comfortable with and get along with. We all had so much fun hanging with Serena, her husband, Dave, and her assistant. Recommend them 1000x over!!" – Julia & Tony "Serena Star is an absolutely amazing photographer and she somehow kept FIREWORKS a complete secret. We were so happy to be able to have our day photographed by Serena and simply have her share the day with us. Her assistant (brother) and husband Dave were simply incredible as well. I cannot express more joy in seeing our day as Serena did through her lens!" – Sam & Zig Serena does amazing boudoir shoots! Are you convinced?
