Savannah and Nick live in Los Angeles but wanted an intimate wedding at their Ojai vacation home. Savannah, an interior designer and reiki practitioner, and Nick, an actor, had a vision of recreating the feel and look of their apartment in the garden. The wedding was special, personal, and wonderfully imperfect — exactly what they wanted.
Their Ojai home has a beautiful backyard in the shape of a U. Guests entered through the side gate into one side of the backyard garden. They were greeted by fresh fruit drinks, and there were beautiful rugs and seating spread throughout the space. Candle votives and tea lights lit the area around the garden. Trinkets from their apartment were perfectly placed at each seating area and it was all a reflection of Savannah and Nick.
They opted to get ready together rather than doing a first look or waiting to see one another at the ceremony. When it was time for the ceremony to start, their good friend and officiant announced, “Let's do this!” and gathered all 50 of their closest family and friends around to watch.
The bride's two sisters blessed the guests and did a cleansing of the space. The sisters asked everyone to bring positive intentions to the couple before the ceremony started. The ceremony was funny and sweet as the couple read their vows to one another. Once the ceremony ended, guests were invited to a cocktail hour and colorful dinner. The day ended with dancing, cake cutting, and merriment into the night.
