Vintage vibes at this 1970s-inspired NY waterfall vow renewal #Real Weddings: Northeast US#flower crown#mama bride#new york#retro#upstate new york#vintage weddings#vow renewal#wedding dress with sleeves Posted Apr 5 2019 Catherine Clark bijouxandbits Photos by Michelle Montgomery & Isabelle Ramirez Janessa and Tyler never had a "white wedding." Just before their wedding was to take place, Janessa's father passed away. They cancelled their celebration, and decided to focus on starting a family. Sadly, Janessa and Tyler lost a baby at 38 weeks, and their focus shifted yet again. Janessa and Tyler were married 3,111 days before they got to say "I do," surrounded by family and friends, and their children. They rocked a vintage 1970s-inspired theme including Janessa's custom dress with epic sleeves (made from a vintage pattern), and Tyler's casual look with a vintage tie. Everything from the locally brewed beer to the French champagne toast had a chic and laid-back vibe. They're animal lovers so they even had a visit from some alpacas! Rev. Michelle Wahila wrote a special message based on their love story. They wove peacocks into their day because the bride has beautiful peacock tattoos that help her to keep her father's memory, and are also a sign of rebirth. Their ceremony even had some "marriage advice from a peacock" in it! We used several hand-painted antiques featuring peacocks, feathers, and a rustic birdcage to help carry the "love bird" theme throughout the day. This nature-loving couple got engaged in front of a waterfall, so they chose to have their ceremony in front of a waterfall as well. The paperless ceremony featured no chairs, no petals or confetti thrown, and a beautiful natural backdrop. They left our ceremony site exactly as they found it.
