Offbeat Bride: Sheva, Hairstylist
Her Offbeat Partner: Jared, Cad specialist
Location & date of wedding: Castle on the Hudson, Tarrytown, NY — October 31st, 2008
What made our wedding offbeat: Jared and I hate the traditional, and dread going to weddings. We decided to throw a huge bash on our favorite holiday, Halloween.
To ensure that our guests would losen up and have fun we had everyone dress up in costume. Jared wore jeans and we all decided to wear chucks and be comfortable. We got to be ourselves and had a stress free fun day.
Biggest challenge: We are from Staten Island and we searched high and low for vendors to see our vision. We wanted a dark elegant event with a twist of tacky halloween fun. All we got was attitude as soon as I walked in and they saw my tattoos and I started talking about skulls and a lot of black.
It was not until we headed out to sleepy hollow did we find this stunning castle that loved Halloween weddings.
My favorite moment: Having the double doors open and seeing our friends and family in their costumes.
My advice for other offbeat brides: Don't fight with your fiance! Have fun with planning your wedding.
And don't settle, you CAN have the craziest, trashiest, most outrageous wedding you want, it's not illegal.
