Life continues to happen even as we plan weddings. Alysson and Adam's circumstances led them to make a pretty huge choice. They decided to get married at Hackensack University Medical Center to be with Alysson's ailing father. Photographer Stefanie Murphy had received an inquiry for a “last minute wedding ceremony” and soon realized that it was imperative that she take it.

Alysson's mother hung decor in the hallway and created an altar. The staff wheeled Alysson's father's chair down the aisle as he brought Alysson to Adam. Despite the hardships this family had to endure in the months preceding this hospital wedding, everyone had a smile. Despite the circumstances, joy was the order of the day.

I hope you're wearing waterproof mascara for this one, y'all…

Comments on Hankies at the ready: this couple made the decision to have a last-minute hospital bedside wedding

  1. I have been honored to be the officiant for hospital bedside weddings in Southern California. They are the most touching and heartfelt. And I’ve had to have a cry many times. It’s bittersweet.

  2. I thought so once I started reading it and started to scroll down, I saw a video on the internet about this and I was thinking, so sweet and offbeat, maybe it will make it to the offbeat wedding website. Everyone looks happy including the dad. Love the interaction between the father and the little boy. So sweet and to me that picture stole the show. Hoping for happy marriage to Alyssa and Adam!

  3. I really love this, and it did bring tears to my eyes. It brought back memories if when my father went to the hospital right before he passed when I was 15. He had been asking my mother to marry him for years, and she was afraid to, because she had been divorced before, and he asked her one more time and she finally said yes. They had a small ceremony with me, nurses I’ve known since I was a kid, and my brothers, and some of my fathers family. It was beautiful and special. He passed away a few weeks later. I have always been so thankful to the hospital staff for helping us with that special day in the midst of such heartache.
