A nerdy wedding in Washington with nods to LotR, Star Wars, and Harry Potter #Real Weddings: Western US#black dress#brides in glasses#disability#fall weddings#geeky weddings#lord of the rings#movies#short dress#tattooed bride#washington Posted Nov 6 2017 Offbeat Editors Photos by friends, Laura and Heather Offbeat partner: Phil, Web Designer Offbeat partner: Joi, Billing Date and location of wedding: The Hobbit House, Port Orchard, Washington — October 13, 2017 Our offbeat wedding at a glance: We didn't have a theme necessarily, but stuck with fall colors and personal favorites when it came to details. We're nerdy and unconventional so the location, cake, and favors were, too. Tell us about the ceremony: We had our friend, Laura read a poem, followed by my wife and I taking a candle each and lighting one big candle as a symbol of our love coming together as one. We then did our vows while exchanging rings in front of the Hobbit house at The Brothers Greenhouses in Port Orchard, Washington. Tell us about your reception: We ate at a Italian restaurant, called Massimo Bar & Grill. Pizza, of course! Our favors included a CD which we both put together, LEGO Star Wars lightsabers, customized M&M's which had our surname, wedding date, and initials printed on them, a Harry Potter Gringotts bag which had a chocolate coin inside, and lastly, a small candle which had a lemongrass scent which we labeled as "Shire scented." What was your most important lesson learned? Wedding planning can be stressful, but we had help from our friends and family for which we are both very grateful. If you're planning a wedding, don't to be afraid to ask for help! Also, don't be afraid to go down the unconventional route with your wedding. Remember that the special day is yours and your partner's, so do whats best for you both.
