On this day in 1980, a wizard named Harry Potter was born. To honor his birthday, we're sharing this MAGICAL Harry Potter bridal shower in Itasca, Illinois. Danielle and Gabe wanted to share their love of Harry Potter with their friends and family and they nailed it.

Danielle’s mom, aunt, and cousin took care of all the details with Danielle’s help. Her aunt hand wrote every envelope before stringing them together for the Hogwarts letter-inspired backdrop. Her mom and aunt both cut out all the wings and pieced together the golden chocolate snitches and her cousin made all the signs, placecards, table settings, and greenery. And they were truly inspiring for any Harry Potter parties you might be throwing.

Here's a little more from the couple on their inspiration…

Harry Potter was the obvious theme of the bridal shower. I grew up reading the books over and over again. I’ve probably read the series about 1000 times, some of my original books were in half because I read them so much. I was also the girl who went to the midnight showings of all the movies, dressed up and all. Gabe likes Harry Potter, but more just plays along to appease me. We do both have “always” tattoos, written in each other’s handwriting and it’s become our saying — so HP does play a major role in our relationship.

My mom Carla, my aunt Karen, my cousin Giselle, and I all sat down one day and hammered out the details. None of them really know Harry Potter except for me, so I guided all of the projects. They all worked so hard.

My mom got us the custom made cake with our saying on it. We had a pensieve so people could drop in their well wishes/advice for us. And we had the “guess the bride's age” game with pictures of me varying from two to 24-years-old.

I chose a white dress from Lulu's. I topped it off with a mini witch hat from Amazon, a Hogwarts crest necklace, and “always” bracelet from Alex and Ani. Gabe wore his Hogwarts Gryffindor sweater to complete the theme. (He decided against me drawing a lightning scar on his forehead!).

  1. This is so fun and elaborate, I think this would have worked as a wedding reception, too! 🙂 Not just for a shower.
