Remember the most beautifully geeky invites that Tribe member Lara drew and designed herself? Well she's back with a unique favor idea (and as usual it's beautifully designed).

Lara explains, “My future husband and I were having a slightly silly conversation while out for dinner the other day, and he suggested that instead of making or buying favours, (or maybe as well as) we make ours actual favours. As in things we will do for people in the future to help them out.”

The cute little name tag will also enable these favors to double as place cards.

And check out how they look when they're unrolled…

They decided to make each guest a little scroll with three different favors from which they can choose — a free drink from their cash bar, custom illustrations from Lara, help moving, house/spring cleaning, computer help, cupcakes etc. And their guests can swap if they like, which is a great way to encourage conversation amongst strangers.

Comments on Putting the FAVOR in wedding favors

  1. this is positively brilliant! we are having a small wedding and arent inviting more than like 40 people who are all very close friends and family. and what a great way to give back? love it!

  2. Wow! This is a great idea. It’s funny that I’ve never heard of this before even though they’re called favors. Very cool.

  3. Brilliant!

It’s funny but it’s only now I’m wondering why they’re called favours when they’re usually anything but.

We’d have to stop people swapping them though. Don’t fancy flying 6,000 miles because my friend in California got one saying we’d help her move house. XD
(Also she has way too much crap in her house!)

    • Just tell her that the favor is to help her move – not covering the travel expenses. If she’s willing to pay your airfare then helping her move seems like a small price to pay for a free trip to California 😉

  4. this is, hands down, one of the best favor ideas I’ve ever heard of.

I had thought of doing a grab-bag type favor thing but it got vetoed.

  5. I really like this. Our close friends and family are far-flung. I fell in love with a set of favor boxes that when assembled looks like a chocolate cake. One of our favorite things to do is visit a local bakery, and we live chocolate. I want to put in a few local chocolates that I can buy in bulk. Kinda wic, but it will be meaningful for us.
