Iceland

Jenn & Nathan's adventurous honeymoon to Iceland plans

Why did you choose Iceland?
We wanted to do something out of the ordinary for us on our honeymoon. We booked our flights pretty spontaneously — before we even had plans for where we would stay or what we would do. We want it to truly be a once in a lifetime vacation.

What are you most looking forward to on your honeymoon?
We have a lot planned for our honeymoon — including visiting the Blue Lagoon, an ice cave, and doing some whale watching! We're so excited. But mostly I'm looking forward to being able to wake up in a gorgeous country, next to my best friend, and finally being able to call him my husband.

Why are you using a honeymoon registry?
Nathan and I have lived together since we were 18 years old (more than six years). We started our life together as we were becoming adults, so we really have all the household essentials already. Having a honeymoon registry gives us the opportunity to experience more while on our honeymoon and do some things that we wouldn't normally be able to afford. We chose Traveler's Joy because it came well-recommended by both family and friends.

The Sushi Chef, Tsukiji Sushi Dai restaurant

Chelsea's Japan foodie honeymoon plans

Why did you choose Japan?
We chose this because we love the food, and we've seen Anthony Bourdain go to a lot of cool restaurants there. We also are really excited to explore all of the historical sites and to learn about the culture there.

What are you most looking forward to on your honeymoon?
I am most excited about the food in Japan. I plan on eating a ton of sushi! We are planning to explore as much as we possibly can while we are there, there are temples and plenty of historical sites that we are very excited to visit.

Why are you using a honeymoon registry?
We are using a honeymoon registry because There are so many things we would like to do in Japan, and a little extra money to do these things couldn't hurt. My sister introduced me to Travelers Joy, because she used it for her wedding.

Costa Rica... No artificial ingredients!

Leslie & Jason's six month honeymoon in Costa Rica

Why made you choose Costa Rica?
We chose this relaxing setting for an extended period of time (six months!) as a way to reset ourselves from the stress of living in Washington, D.C. before moving to California (my home state). During this time we plan on spending time on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, along with the central rainforest region.

What are you most looking forward to on your honeymoon?
What we are looking forward to most about our honeymoon is the opportunity to completely reset and start our lives together on a clean slate. Of course there will be stressors waiting for us in California, but we're thrilled to have the opportunity of shedding ourselves of our current stressors before taking on new ones.

We are hoping to stay the entire six months without paying for accommodations through various housesitting opportunities!

Why are you using a honeymoon registry?
Generally speaking, we already have most things couples would request in a registry, so we thought it would be a great opportunity to raise funds for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity instead. We've added a few items such a hiking boots, backpacks, etc. but the rest of the registry will be donation based.

Excellence Punta Cana

John and Kim's eclectic Dominican Republic honeymoon plans

Why did you choose the Dominican Republic?
We are going to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and staying at the Melia Caribe Tropical Resort for our honeymoon. We chose this location because of the beauty of the island and the resort. Also, there are a lot of things to do while in the Dominican Republic. Things we may never have an opportunity to do again.

What are you most looking forward to on your honeymoon?
The thing we are most looking forward to on our honeymoon is spending time together as a new husband and wife and seeing and doing things together that we may never get a chance to do or see again. We are looking forward to going on some island excursions and just laying on the beach together enjoying a nice cold island drink, or two. Also looking forward to having a romantic beach dinner with just the two of us.

We are also planning on a few “offbeat” activities like visiting Saona Island on a day trip, and going snorkeling with the sharks and rays. We plan on swimming with the dolphins and dune buggy-ing down the beach. We also want to visit the Memorial Museum of Dominican Resistance, it is a museum of brutal dictatorships (I know kind of out there for a honeymoon, but history is fascinating). We'd like to visit Faro A Colon too, the final resting place of Christopher Columbus, possibly. These are just some of the offbeat things we have planned and with the help of the honeymoon registry these memories are more than possible to make.

Why are you using a honeymoon registry?
We wanted to give our family and friends a chance to help us make this the best honeymoon possible by being able to help us do things we otherwise won't have the chance to do because of the costs.

We chose Travelers Joy because, out of all the registry websites out there, they seem to be the most used, and our honeymoon registry was so easy to set up. There was NOTHING complicated about it at all, that was a huge plus.

Where will Traveler's Joy help you go for YOUR honeymoon?
