Caroline & Mikael totally know how to personalize a wedding to their interests and personalities. Think Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Warhammer 40K, Harry Potter, World of Warcraft, and Star Wars. Yep, this Geeky Stockholm wedding hits ALL our favorite fandoms.

Let's hear from the bride, Caroline, on how it all went down…

I think that we have never been so nervous as we were before the doors to the church opened. I tried to keep my tears in and Micke took several deep breaths. I remember that my sister-in-law said that when she had looked at us she got a bit worried because it looked like Micke was hyperventilating.

A week before the wedding, we had a meeting with the priest to tell her a bit about ourselves. We had also told her that we love both Star Wars and fantasy. The priest thought it was marvelous and wanted to incorporate it into our wedding ceremony in some way.

We decided to have a mix of the Star Wars' Main theme song and Wagner's Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin as our entrance music. We had Mendelssohns’ Wedding March as our exit music.

Mickes' sister read the Swedish version of “Song of Solomon” and my brother read a piece from the fantasy writers Brandon Sanderson and Terry Pratchett. This way we got the wedding ceremony to represent us. We love rock music and we wanted to have the song “The Bliss” by Volbeat in our wedding ceremony. We thought it was a bit too much rock for church, so we hired a solo artist to turn it into an acoustic version. She also made an interpretation of the Swedish song “Utan dina andetag” by Kent in a wonderful way and it set the mood for the entire wedding. It was very special to hear those songs that mean a lot to us on our wedding day.

Another special moment was when the priest read the things we had said to her about one another. When she said that Micke had said that I am his everything, I could no longer hold back my tears. The priests’ speech to us was also something that we will never forget. She had put in some Star Wars references and the battle between good and evil in the world and she also quoted Yoda!

As the centerpiece on the table, there was a geeky candle which I made inspired by Offbeat Bride's geeky wedding candles DIY. I had printed out maps and blueprints from the different universes of our nerd-themed tables and put them up together as the seating chart. All of them carried a special meaning for me and Micke. We also had two Funko Pop Vinyl figures at mine and Micke's seat which represented and looked like us. I had Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter and Micke had Sole Survivor from Fallout 4.
