We recently featured Karen and Ian's amazing swords and boards geek-tacular wedding, to much praise. However, one element was hinted at, but lacked details… it was their program entitled, “So You're Going to Sit Through a Wedding.”

We asked Karen to give us more information, and she admitted that Ian did the writing since he has a flair for comedy.

…But the program also gracefully and humorously informs everyone about the touchy details of the booze supply and the DJs “do not play” list.

  1. I loved this idea! Thanks so much for posting this on Offbeat Bride (found thru Pinterest, of course!); I’ve decided to use this as my inspiration for my own programme, since I’m the humorous one in our relationship and I’ve been looking for an outlet for my slightly zany creativity.

  2. I ‘borrowed’ this idea but called it a Wedding Survival Guide, it was a great talking point and set the tone of the rest of the evening really well. Thank you for sharing this 🙂

  3. Stole this idea for our wedding invitations. Turned our wonderfully and have received a ton of positive feedback. Solid idea.

  4. This is amazing. This is amazing. This. This right here is amazing. I promise I won’t copy it word for word, but I am absolutely doing something like this at our wedding. It eliminates the need to make signs for everything, and it gives the hubb’s two younger siblings something to do. I love this so so much.

  5. I absolutely love this!! I have been trying to find a way to go off the “traditional” path for my programs and I think I just found it!! Hope you don’t mind but I’m going to borrow the concept! P.S. your new husband did a superb job!

  6. Is there a template for this? So people are able to create their own?…I am not very computer savvy but I am determined to do this for our wedding….I just need to know how haha

    • It appears to be a landscape-aligned Microsoft Word document with 4 columns of plain text. Very, very basic. I’m not sure why a template would be necessary.

  7. I love these wedding programs! Really funny and sarcastic, works for me! This is an awesome way to get your guests more comfortable, and help them enjoy their time even more!
