Remember Save the Dates with post-it notes? Well, their creator, Tribesmaid Grafxcowgirl (aka Michele), is back with a new DIY wedding project that I love!
Check out a quick tutorial in two photos…
She created these customized match books for her wedding favors by simply purchasing cheap blank matchbooks, printing out her design on sticker paper, trimming and adhering, and voila! The result — these super hip matchbook wedding favors!
Here's how she did it:
I picked seed bombs as favors because I didn't want to give out "stuff" (i.e. junk that will just go in a landfill) but rather... Read more
Here are the step-by-step instructions for creating my nifty custom matchbook covers:
First, buy the stuff (all pretty cheap!). You will need blank matchbooks (I ordered online, but you may be able to find them elsewhere) and full-size sticker sheet paper that will run through your printer.
You can create a template in your favorite software program (Powerpoint, Photoshop, Illustrator) with about 12 “covers” to a page. You can measure your matchbook by unfolding it, laying a blank piece of paper underneath and tracing around the edges. When you create the template be sure to leave yourself plenty of room for “error.” I extended the area for each cover almost a 1/4 inch so that I had room to trim off from three of the sides. I kept the side that would butt up to the striking area exact.
After you have cut out all of the covers (with some extra area around the three sides), lay a matchbook out, remove the backing from the sticker and carefully place on the matchbook, aligning the bottom edge to the striking area.
Then you just trim the excess around all three sides.
Fold the matchbook cover over and close it…voila!
