While on my endless search for OMGOBT content, I started to notice how many creative Dia de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) invitations our fabulous OBBs have come up with. And many of them designed by the couples themselves. So I thought I'd profile some of them for you and share some inspiration.

OBT member Shantelle DIY'd her own Day of the Dead style wedding invitations. She and her fiance designed them in Photoshop and used the bright and wonderful color pallet of pink and orange (or “porange” anyone?)…

I love the eyelet at the top that swivels to reveal the pages beneath.

Remember Melissa & Phil's Day of the Dead, heavy metal Mexipalooza wedding? Well it's no wonder that they're invites were just as bad-ass as their wedding…

Thanks to Adrenachrome1 for uploading these DIY'd DOTD invites to the OBB Flickr Pool, describing them as “a few hours in InDesign, and an online printer- the perfect invite postcards!”

OBT member “tattoomama” made her invitations with the help of her MOH, complete with Mad-Lib inspired RSVP cards…

Even offbeat grooms get in on the invite-designing action, like OBT member MJB‘s man who drew up these engagement party invitations up, based on a day of the dead cake topper that she was in love with.

Comments on Dia de los Muertos invitation roundup

  1. These are all so cool!

The girl who did Phil and Melissas invites is going to do mine as well…Nicole from Lost Dolly Graphics came up with an awesome proposal for me and gave me the option of having her use her own printer or just giving me the files to have them printed myself so that I could find the way that would save the most money. She has some other paper goods to that I may use as well like these neat little paper favor boxes that are made to match the invitations/theme.

  2. I am always surprised at how many of these there are… my wedding is this May and if DOTD as well… we made our own invites and are seriously excited with them as well as our theme.

  3. I love all of these. I collect Day of the Dead items (mostly Catrina dolls), and that postcard above? LOVE.

    • Erin, it’s telling me “Oops! You don’t have permission to view this photo” when I click on that link. Do you have your photos on some kind of privacy setting?

  4. can you tell me where you had your invitations designed? I really like these and my fiancee and I are looking at a dia de los muertos idea because we are far from the average couple…
