We wanted so badly for our Beagle and our cat to be part of our wedding, but we got married at a restaurant so it just wasn't possible. (And to be honest, our animals would have been too spazzy to have any fun!) So my bridesmaid made foam photo cut-outs of our animals and glued them to sticks so our guests could pose with them in our photo booth! We would have loved if our cat could have been at our wedding but we don't call her "Mistress of Bad" for nothing. Traveling turns her into a puking ball of feline anxiety. But we were able to incorporate her in some small way. We did a hand fasting ceremony for which I made six binding cords. At the ends of each cord I sewed a charm that represented something about us or our relationship. One of the charms was a two sided locket containing two of our favorite photos of Calliope. Even though no one was really close enough to the cords to see them except us we knew she was there in spirit. She was discreetly in her carrier during the 10-minute ceremony. And she hung out at our reception picnic, mostly in her cat tent, but she walked around on her leash a bit. We are blessed with a calm, sociable cat who leash walks and enjoys new experiences.
