Her offbeat groom: Damien

Location & date of wedding: Army Navy Country Club, Fairfax VA, October 6, 2007

What made our wedding offbeat: We wanted to be different and rock a roll — but still very elegant. I walked down the aisle to a Johnny Cash tune!

Being understanding, compromising and remembering that it's supposed to be a fun and special time kept any disagreement and difficulty at bay.

My offbeat advice: Check out Whirlingturban. They make custom vintage style dresses that are actually affordable and one of a kind.

Comments on Bree’s elegant rock ‘n’ roll wedding

  1. I love that they had it at “Army Navy Country Club.” That just sound like it would be the least likely location for an offbeat wedding. It shows that you don’t have to get married underwater or in a hot-air balloon to be offbeat!

  2. I adore Bree’s dress! I am still considering Whirlingturban as a possibility. Anyway, love the dress, hair, bouquet — just the overall look. Very sophisticated and cool.

  3. their wedding totally rocks!!! bree looks gorgeous. and i like it how most of the guests wore black or dark colors (always a plus in my book!)

whirlingturban looks like such an awesome site – i’m so bummed i didn’t hear of it earlier!

  4. I love it! That dress is to die for and “rose of my heart” is a great idea for a song to walk to!

  5. I contacted whirlingturban to make my wedding dress, and heard back from them a few times… and then never again, despite numerous e-mails and a few phone call attempts over the period of a month.

They are located in Bali and have the financial part based in Idaho… I don’t know if it was my fault or what, but found my vintage dress (replication) on http://www.unique-vintage.com instead.

  6. Whirlingturban is doing my dress too!! I love them , and Bree looks absolutley stunning her dress!!

  7. I have been talking to Katherine, the designer at Whirlingturban, for months about my wedding dress. I have never had such stellar customer service in my life, anywhere. Katherine is so careful she’s downright neurotic (in a good way:) ) and everybody I’ve had contact with at Whirlingturban has been so accommodating there, both before and after they had any of my money.

  8. Katherine and the girls at Whirlingturban have been wonderful! I’m pretty picky about fit and Katherine sent me a muslin bodice to make sure it would be perfect. I’ve always received warm responses to my emails and my calls (within reasonable working hours, of course). Nobody believed I had my beautiful dress made online, sight unseen!! Looks like everyone else had the same great experience….
