Designate a special cup for the bride (and other things I learned on Insta this week)

How's this for a clever wedding idea to steal: If you designate a special cup (like this R2D2 cup!) for the bride, you can use it to signal to the wedding bartender that if they see someone cutting in line with it… that person is getting wine for the bride! Thanks to @claraganeyphotography and Darci Kim for the great concept.

Now, here are a few other things I learned from Offbeat Bride's Instagram this week…

Puppy bouquet & the unicorn cake

I hope that some of you who follow along with us on the blog are also following along with us on Facebook and/or Instagram, but if I know anything about social media, it's that different folks use different tools for different things… and different algorithms show different followers different stuff and OH LORD it's all a bit complex. This in mind, I think I'm going to start sharing some of my favorite Insta finds here on the blog, just so we can see them all in one place.

The ultimate Hallowedding shoes?!

These may be the ultimate boots for your hallowedding… glow in the dark?! Are you freaking kidding me?!

I mean, even if you didn't want these for you, they come in toddler sizes, which means tiniest wedding party member could be rocking these down the aisle. Tiny little undead flower girl? Wee lil boney ring bearer? It just gets cuter and cuter.

Has the zombie wedding trend reached "peak zombie"?

A couple weeks ago, I was interviewed by a journalist writing for Yahoo Style about Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams and his zombie-themed wedding photos. This is a great excuse to talk about the zombie wedding trend — and whether it's peaked.

I got a Dark Garden corset fitted to my skeleton

Custom corsets are nothing new in these parts. I wore one at my wedding way back in 2004, and we've consistently ogled custom bridal corsets on Offbeat Bride in the decade we've been online. So when Dark Garden offered to walk me through the process of getting measured and fit for a new custom corset made to my now-measurements, I was all "Oh fuck yes."

What does it feel like going to San Francisco and getting a corset fit to your skeleton? It feels like being a sexy bug. YES, REALLY.
