A '90s dance party wedding full of positive vibes #Real Weddings: Northeast US#brides in glasses#lesbian weddings#LGBTQ#pennsylvania#philadelphia#short hair Updated Mar 15 2021 (Posted Aug 23 2017) Offbeat Editors Photos by: The Pros Photos by The Pros Offbeat partner: Kelly Offbeat partner: Nikki Date and location of wedding: Le Meridien, Philadelphia, PA — July 28, 2017 Our offbeat wedding at a glance: We were going for good energy, and invited close family and friends only. We focused on good food and great dancing. Tell us about the ceremony: Our officiant was my cousin and wife's long time friend, Megan. My wife and I had known each other for over 10 years because of Megan, but it was at Megan's wedding where our love sparked. So we thought she was the perfect person for the job. My long time friend played John Legend's "All of Me" on the piano and we walked back down the aisle to the Sanford and Son theme song. The ceremony included a meditation so everyone could take a couple of moments to feel the love in the room and be in the moment. All of the flowers were assembled by myself and my girls. Tell us about your reception: The reception had really good energy. We wanted the focus to be on the food and dancing. We had food stations with anything from spring rolls and wontons, to Philly cheesesteaks, to pasta and carving stations. We had it set up so that people could eat whenever they wanted and the party could get started immediately. No dinner music, no sitting and waiting to dance. The only things we kept traditional were our first dance (Stevie Wonder) and a bouquet/garter toss (that turned into a full-on lap dance). The space was really filled with a lot of love. The dancing started right away and lasted all night, complete with a Soul Train line and New Edition performance. The room was already so beautiful that we just added eucalyptus leaves and tea lights. The girls' bouquets were recycled and placed on the cake and sweetheart tables.
