A guerrilla-style Harry Potter Wizarding World wedding (with handmade outfits!)
Photos by Mary Anastasia Photo

Kevin proposed to Jessica with a stuffed owl carrying a ring box and a Hogwarts letter, so their guerrilla wedding at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando was a no-brainer.

They BOTH made their own wedding attire and it was epic. Their outfits matched their Hogwarts houses (Gryffindor for her, Hufflepuff for him), and their officiant and photographer dressed as their houses (Ravenclaw and Slytherin, respectively), so the circle was complete.

Before their ceremony, they caroused around the park and took photos in Diagon Alley. Technically, weddings are not allowed at the Wizarding World, so they had to do it guerrilla-style (having a wedding while not booking the public venue). To get it done on the sly, they met behind The Three Broomsticks for a super quick and really small ceremony with a handfasting and personal vows.

One of the sweetest parts was the day before when they attended a “wand ceremony” to choose their wands. “Ollivander” told them that their wands shared a core, so they would always be together even when they were apart. D'awww. Are you ready to see this geek's dream wedding? Accio Wizarding World wedding!

  1. I love this! Can’t believe you guys made those outfits. Wow – that bedazzled manicure. And how fun that you had one person per house.

I’m a Hufflepuff but don’t look good in yellow. Sigh. You look fantastic in Gryffindor colors.

  2. so amazing! My husband and I went there for our honeymoon and we were chosen to pick our wands at Ollivanders and they said the same thing, our wands shared a core!

I love the photos, you guys looked great and I’m sure it was so magical!

  3. Kevin, your tie is THE WORD!!! Jessica – love your manicure – and, please, what is it you ask your hairdresser to do, to get that hair do – it’s just what I’ve always wanted, but I can’t seem to describe it! 🙂

    • Hello, Bride from the photos here! Finger waves is the correct terminology! I actually was wearing a wig from Arda Wigs for our wedding! It came pre-styled like that! Also, Kevin’s tie is from JC Penney tied with an Eldritch knot if I recall! Thank you for the lovely comment!!

  4. My sister has been looking for a skirt with this type of drape – did you use a pattern you could point me towards? Thank you!
