Elsie and Dilphe met in Madagascar while Elsie was serving in the Peace Corps. They now live in Seattle, but Elsie's family history lies in Whidbey Island where they got married in her parents' backyard. Dilphe's siblings were able to travel from Madagascar for the wedding so this day was solely set aside for just pure fun and family.

Here's what their photographer, Stolen Glimpses, told us about all the details…

There were no timelines, no hair and makeup teams, and no traditional wedding fiascos. They just wanted to celebrate with their friends and family surrounded by nature and whatever else happened was just a bonus. Elsie doesn't wear makeup daily, so she chose to also not wear makeup on her wedding day. She wanted to spend that time doing a first look and spending time with Dilphe and family before the ceremony.

Her sisters and closest friends did all of the decorations, baked and decorated all the cakes, and took care of keeping the dance floor absolutely electric. One of Elsie's sisters is an artist and painted the large lemur artwork for the couple. She also painted the photobooth backdrop of traditional Madagascar Baobab trees and Washington Evergreens.

During the ceremony, Elsie and Dilphe had a ceremony of elements. Since no one was local to Whidbey Island, everyone was invited to camp out in the property, hence the tents!

Let's take a look at this lush and beautiful Whidbey Island backyard wedding…
