Weird wedding survival kits #DIY#geeky#star trek#star wars#wedding kits February 22 | Guest post by Liz Remember the wacky wedding placemats made by Liz? Well, Liz is back with another of her great wedding creations — weird wedding survival kits for the adorably nerdy. I'd seen this idea on a few blogs, but wanted to make it my own. Since I'm a Star Trek nerd, and Kevin's a Star Wars nerd, we had to include something from each universe in our particular kits. Here's the list of what we've included… Mints (Nintendo controller tins) Bandaids (Batman and Spiderman) Burt's Bees lip balm Shout Wipes Tums Instant Dissolve Tylenol Aleve Kleenex Star Wars lightsaber chopsticks (Our rehearsal dinner is in a Chinese restaurant) Star Trek Pez Dispenser (Sugar for those "oh, crap, forgot to eat!" moments) Before: We ordered these plastic bags online — they were a couple bucks, and we'll use them for a lot of other things, too. After: We'll finish them off with stickers on the paper, like so: I'm very stoooopidly proud of this. I love them, and I know our wedding party will love them, and I love that we got to "nerd up" this whole idea. The boy loves star trek, gonna bookmark this for the future. 😀 Reply Damn. These are so awesome. I wish I had some extra money in our budget…because I would really love to do something like this as a favor. Congrats on having such an awesome idea and such a beautiful result. Reply YAY! Thanks, guys. I should mention these are for our wedding party as part of their gift, not something we did for favors for everyone. That would've been cost-prohibitive. The links to amazon are spot-on, but always look around on the magical interwebs – we got the Pez from ebay cheap, for example. I'm really in love with the final result though. Nerdcore love! 🙂 Reply Crazy bag of tricks – love it. Reminds me of the lucky dip bag I always wanted 🙂 Reply I love this idea, I might steel it since we're having a camping wedding a 'survival kit' will go well with the 'camping survival guide' invites 😀 Reply Where on earth did the Lightsaber chopsticks come from, I NEED them! Reply I linked to them on Amazon at the beginning. They're pretty amazing. Reply I've also seen them on http://www.thinkgeek.com, which is also the absolute best source for any of your geeky needs. (Did someone say ninja star push pins???) Reply OMG, these are made of so much win. So creative and geeky! Love! =D Reply Those are so cool! Great idea! Reply I was looking up the Nintendo Mints and I decided to look under the "Customers Who Viewed This Item Also Viewed" and the new edition of Offbeat Bride was there ^_^ Reply that is so cool! i am going to do this for my husband birthday instead… he having a science fiction theme party. again great idea Reply Hi there! Congratulations for the amazing website! I'm getting married in 2 weeks and I've never been the 'traditional type'. I wish I had come across your website earlier! I'm very excited with your tips and alternative ideas, tks! Reply Great ideas 😀 Reply Jackpot! Um, I'm totally diggin' the survival kit. I think I'm gonna borrow the idea and come up with one of my own. I think the kids at the wedding reception would love a kit like this, too. Thanks! Reply Awesome idea! I may have to use your idea and do something similar for my upcoming wedding. Where in the world did you find those bags? Are they just regular old baggies with the tops cut off? Reply I thought this was the best idea ever. Since we didn't do any attended gifts, (we paid for the kilt rental and brides maids dresses instead) I still wanted to have a cute little surprise for our party. I've had this book marked for 6 months and put them together last night! Turned out GREAT! Reply YAY! Glad they worked out for you. They were really well-liked by our folks. 🙂 Reply Join the conversation Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published.
