Wedding hashtag generator. #Go! #Wedding trends#photography#social media March 24 | Megan Finley meggyfin Photo by: mikecogh – CC BY 2.0 Wedding hashtags: they're not just for hipsters. Having your own hashtag is one of the easiest ways to not only collect extra photos from your guests, but also to share your event with people who have to be MIA on your wedding day. Related Post Put your wedding's hashtag on the back of your place cards You know what's awesome? Your friends taking awesome photos of your wedding, and sharing their fun moments online, where you can see 'em. You know... Read more But be warned: Choosing the right hashtag is mega important. I have friends who blended their initials to create a special hashtag… only to find out that #KEEK was actually already a very popular hashtag. All wedding photos got slurped up into a sea of photos and videos of strangers. Oops. Or maybe you wanted to use your last names, but people have a hard time remembering how to spell it? Now you have photos spread out over #FinleyTharpewedding and #FindlayTharpwedding or that one guy who kept using #TharpeFinlaywedding (what was his deal!?). Photo by Brynne Owen Yes, you can put reminders of the hashtag in strategic places to help with spelling errors. But you also need to first find that perfect, unused, easy-to-remember wedding hashtag. Of course there are hashtag generators online, and that's cool and all, but they only pick options from the same few tired algorithms. We know for a fact that our readers are WAY more clever than any robot can be… let's chat in the comments and see what we can do! Here are a few of our favorites that our readers have come up with: My new last name is Handley, which sounds (a little bit) like Happily – so we went classic, romantic with our hashtag and chose #HandleyEverAfter I'm going to be a Howe, so ours is #HoweSweetItIs Last name Pham: #wearePhamily For last name Gidrey: #GidreyUp New last name Grey: #isupportgreymarriage Last name Wiener: #WienerTakesAll My name is Annelise and my last name is my fiance's name is Alex: #bringyourAgame Last name Wilk: #WilkYouMarryMe Last name Pitts: #newPittsontheblock Last name Whiteley: #NiceDayForAWhiteleyWedding Brittany & Aaron: #Brittron I'm the Holsinger and he's the Webster: #theWebbingSinger Last name Blake: #takestheblake …but that's just the tip of the iceberg! Remember that hashtags don't HAVE to just be about last names. They can be about your venue, your theme, your wedding date, your first names squished together, or anything else. So, guys, what awesome wedding hashtags did you think up? Let's generate our own hashtags! I'm becoming a Peacock (like the bird) and we're getting married in Washington, D.C. in May. Reply something about Peahens maybe? Or signing your Hencock (like John Hancock)? Hopefully that was May 2017, or I'm way late to the party. Reply I'm really struggling to find a hashtag I like. His last name is Mcfarland and mine is newton and we're getting married in April 2017. I want something fun and unique but everything I think of doesn't sound great out loud! Reply I'm marrying a McFarland too! My current one's Poteet, though. It's seriously so good!! 2 agree Reply devoreevermore Reply My fiances last name is Kilbourne (pronounced kill-born)and my last name is Snell. Were trying to come up with a unique hashtag for our wedding next year. I've been reading the ideas people have come up with on this site and I'm hoping some one can help me!! Reply I don't know if you guys are in to anime, but my first thought was kil-la-snell after kill-la-kill. Other thought the Bourne matrimony. After the Bourne movies. I don't know if you want to go fandom with it though. 1 agrees Reply I would like some help his last name is Brown and mine is Rodriguez..getting married in central mexico. Reply could someone help me: his last name is Brown mine is Rodriguez…getting married in mexico …right now all I can think of is #walkingBrownTheAisle meh. Reply Help!!!! Need more suggestions Reply I would love some help with a creative and fun wedding hashtag using the name Wilson! Everything I think of is so generic. I want something a little more fun and unusual. Reply I have to admit, I was messing around with the weddingwire hashtag generator and one popped up that was so funny that, even though its longer than I'd ideally want, I think we are going to have to use it! #reavenandzerosittinginatree (names changed to protect the not-so-innocent) lololol Our friends and family we've mentioned it to love it! 1 agrees Reply Wedding Wire's generator gave me: #canyoufeeltheesquivelstonight This is hysterical even though I'm not planning to change my name. 3 agree Reply We wanted to use #crowntattoo . Everything online as a couple we use crowntattoo. BUT how do you know if it is already a popular #hastag? 1 agrees Reply Most of my friends use Instagram more than they use Twitter, so I just searched for the hashtag I wanted to use on Instagram to make sure it wasn't already in use. To search on Instagram, click the magnifying glass on the bottom of the screen (left of the camera button). Start typing your potential hashtag in the search bar, then select "Hashtags" instead of "Users." Once you've typed in the hashtag, it'll show you how many posts are currently using that hashtag. Hope that helps!! 🙂 4 agree Reply You can go to sites like twitter and instagram and search explicitly for hashtags (and I believe you can do the same on FB). (A cursory search of instagram seems to indicate that #crowntattoo is filled with pictures of literal tattoos of crowns) Reply Get thee to Twitter and Instagram and search the hashtag! If more than a smattering of tweets or pics show up, then snag it! I'd also suggest using it as much as possible, as early as possible to stake your claim. 1 agrees Reply How about an idea for going from an Arreguin to a Roberts? Hard one! His nick names bob rob and Rickey bobby we have 2 kids Reply #rockinroberts 12 agree Reply New last name is going to be McNamara soooo…#mcnamarried, har har. I am more excited about this than I should be ^_^ 79 agree Reply Oh my gawd, that's a GOOD ONE! 3 agree Reply We had a country music themed wedding and my new last name is Yochim (pronounced like Dwight Yoakam), so we went with #yochimhoedown. Everybody loved it (or at least I did, which is what really matters, amirite?) :] 6 agree Reply I'm not a paid rep or anything, so this is just from personal experience BUT a friend set up an account with the app Wedpics and then on the back of the place cards provided everyone with the information on how to access their page and upload the pictures. It didn't involve remembering any hashtags and at the time I would have had to download other apps to upload the photos with hashtags. I thought it was a nice, simple solution to many of the problems faced with hashtags. Of course, I only used this service as a guest so I can't speak to how easy it was on the bride and grooms end. 3 agree Reply Yes I have been to a wedding as a guest that used WedPics and it was great. I am unsure of whether I want to use that app or a hashtag because I am not sure how many of my particular guests will want to download a new app and I know many of them already use instagram. The app is a plus because only your guests can view the pictures, they're not public like instagram. I do love the idea of a hashtag though … this generator is so much fun!! Reply So my last name is Ashley and his is Lee, so AshLee seems a natural pairing. So far I've come up with (a few thanks to the Wedding Wire generator): #TheAshLees #OhHappyLees #CheerstotheLees #HitchedLees #AshLeeWed 1 agrees Reply Now I've got the song "Here a Lee" from the 1776 musical in my head…. 3 agree Reply You could even go #TheNewLEEweds! 100 agree Reply This one is my favorite! 6 agree Reply #HappiLeeEverAfter 27 agree Reply I think you should try #happiLEEmarried 6 agree Reply #LoveActuaLEE 4 agree Reply i love it! however, im having problems thinking for my own hashtag.. my lastname will be Go… can you guys help me? many thanks in advance! =) 1 agrees Reply #GOinToTheChapel ? 3 agree Reply You guys are good!! What about my name becoming Scialabba??? HELP! haha You guys are so good! My name is Alyssa Filkins and will be marrying Eric DiStefano…it's a hard one! Any thoughts? My friends have suggested AandEbecomeWe AandEdrinksarefree Ours was simple. His last name is Womble and I took his name. "The Wombles" is a popular British children's show, so we couldn't do that. Enter in something that an old high school teacher used to say: #letsgetreadytowomble 38 agree Reply #letsgetreadytowomble!!!!????? That's perfect. 20 agree Reply Help!!!!! Although I like to consider myself somewhat clever, I'm horrible at this.. My new last name will be Falwell…. Any ideas???? Anyone???? Help! 1 agrees Reply #FinallyFalwell 3 agree Reply Kindly help…My name is Joyeb and my last name is Maredia. Her name is Sunita. So far we have #JoyEberAfter but not feeling it. Need more suggestions Reply We wound up not using it because we scaled everything way back but I've worked under the name Savage for 20+ years and my hubs has been known online as IBDoomed even longer than that so we refer to our little family as SavageDoom so we were planning to use both #SavageDoomWedding and #savanddoomswedding 2 agree Reply My new last name will be Nguyen, so I want to play on how it sounds like "win". #nguyening is pretty popular. Wedding Wite generated #FinallyaNguyen, which I thought was pretty funny. I'm also thinking about #Natnis or #NatnisForeverdeen since my first name is Natalie and his first name is Dennis. 16 agree Reply #NatnisForeverdeen!! That's the best thing I've ever heard! Game over. You totally "nguyen" at hashtagging. 28 agree Reply #nguyening2015 or 2016 differentiates it a bit Reply #lovealwaysnguyens 4 agree Reply We're using #piglovesdog (long story). It's already been used on Instagram a few times, but all for photos of pigs being friends with dogs, and we're fine with that! Reply I just need to say that y'all proved me right… You guys are all freaking hashtag geniuses. 6 agree Reply I need helping thinking of a hashtag! My new last name will be Daggett. I had a friend use #destinedtobedavis and I love it but I cant use the same. Anyone have any ideas close? Thanks so much! Reply We got married on Pi Day, and during the planning process I just started using #petersonpi (also the domain name for our Wedding Wire wedsite). Luckily for us, it hadn't been used before, so I ran with it for the rest of the planning and the wedding. My more tech-savvy friends and family picked it up easily, although I'm sure there are probably a few #petersonpie tags floating around out there…. I also used #pidaywedding because I liked seeing all the other awesome, nerdy pi couples when I clicked the tag 🙂 3.141592653 fo' life! 1 agrees Reply When you absolutely positively gotta have a unique hashtag: http://www.guidgen.com/ #99d05da4-dac2-41a5-863a-451a786ad674 #AcceptNoSubstitutes 😉 2 agree Reply It's not working Reply I'm not familiar with GUIDs – do you mean we can use that site to generate a hashtag? Reply Haha that generator was amazing. I did kind of hate the slightly stereotypical "Dr&Mrs" that it generated… first of all, I'm the med student, second of all, an Indian name is not ALWAYS a doctor. How in the world did it make that assumption?! My future husband came up with our hashtag on his own, without even prompting it. In fact, it's our wedding website (as he bought the domain name too…) it's #LastnameFTW. My grandma was like "Future wedding?" and I die laughing when I think of it. 1 agrees Reply We used lastnamebration because his last name ends in "el" (for example Ledellebration), and it was a big hit. It would work with other last names too, Kellerebration, Halebration, Tylerebration… 1 agrees Reply We're Ben and Clare > Bare (pron. Bear) We call our Minecraft realm Bareland, so right now I'm thinking something like #welcometobareland i like that we could keep using it for other events/parties in the future 3 agree Reply We used #prashawpiwedding 🙂 Reply Favs from generator…not all useable, but made me laugh #eatdrinkandbe(hislastname) #canyoufeelthe(hislastname)tonight I like how theres ideas for all kinds of couples like #hislastherlastmerger and weddings #hislastfest #fallforthehislasts I havent decided what I'll do with my name yet, so that may affect my choice of hashtag (or not) Reply Our wedding is going to be super bookish, and our last name will be Schwartz, so currently, I'm leaning towards "#SchwartzStories"… but I am totally open to suggestions 🙂 7 agree Reply Oh man, I'm a total nerd so I would go with a Spaceballs reference, like #TheSchwartzRing (http://spaceballs.wikia.com/wiki/Schwartz-ring) or #TheSchwartzIsStrongWithUs 11 agree Reply #iseeyourschwartzisasbigasmine?? 😛 10 agree Reply #saluteyourschwartz 11 agree Reply I need more hashtags for Schwartz. Please can anyone help? 1 agrees Reply My new last name is Handley, which sounds (a little bit) like Happily – so we went classic, romantic with our hashtag and chose #HandleyEverAfter 🙂 6 agree Reply In poking fun of the whole hashtag fad storm that is my Facebook newsfeed, the FH and I started messing around about what ours could be and came up with #DoTheDanThing…his last name is Dan (Obvii). I'm actually unsure about if I'll change my name at all, I just laugh like a child at the chance to use puns in formal settings. 9 agree Reply Any ideas for last name Gidrey???? Im stuck!!! Reply #GidreyGettingMarried? #GidreyAtLast? #GladToBeAGidrey? #DamnItFeelsGoodToBeAGidrey? 3 agree Reply #GidreyUp , like giddy up! 🙂 18 agree Reply Any ideas for the last name Black? We're going to the Bahamas for our ceremony and honeymoon if that helps…. Reply #BetOnBlack 🙂 7 agree Reply #onceyougoblack – i mean, it's perfect. 🙂 It's a great last name, btw (i know from personal experience.) 38 agree Reply #LucyisthenewBlack 44 agree Reply #babygotblack? 9 agree Reply Any suggestions for the last name GREY? Haven't found anything we like yet and I know there has to be some potential there! Reply #50shadesofwedding? 3 agree Reply I'm pro #greymarriage 21 agree Reply #Isupportgreymarriage 18 agree Reply #Greysamarrying? #OhhappyGrey #paintthetowngrey 4 agree Reply My maiden name is Pelchat and his last name is Vick, before we ever even started dating we joked about starting a country band (I have no musical talent) and calling it Pelvickchat. So that was our hashtag. #pelvickchat I think it is hilarious. My mom didn't love it. 11 agree Reply My new last name will be Perry…. Any ideas? Reply OMG, I just made myself groan with this one: #iwannamarryPerry. Am I the only one who remembers the blip on the radar that was this show? But really, just replace the word "marry" with "Perry" and you're golden. 3 agree Reply #JustPerried 17 agree Reply #aPerryHappyWedding 1 agrees Reply #happilyperried 1 agrees Reply We got # AdventuresOfHandJ ….not sure that would be good to use XD 15 agree Reply Help me out! I am going to be a Wiener (wee-ner) Yes! I Know! How lucky can I get? Help us with some ideas 🙂 Reply #WienerWienerChickenDinner? (sorry, that should probably be #WienerWienerWeddingDinner) #WienerTakesAll #TwoWienersAreBetterThanOne #LoveWieners 18 agree Reply #TwoWienersAreBetterThanOne <—This. All day, this. 14 agree Reply I'm going to be a Howe, so ours is #HoweSweetItIs to go with the song "How Sweet it is (To Be Loved By You)" 🙂 13 agree Reply My maiden name is Groves. The new last name is Loveridge. I'm stuck. It doesn't rhyme with anything! Reply #LoveLoveridge? #LoveridgeLove? I mean…love is right in the last name already. I gotta think there's something with groves and ridges but I'm currently drawing a blank. 1 agrees Reply #theLoveridgeoflove 1 agrees Reply LoveridgeLane! 6 agree Reply I LOVE LOVERIDGELANE that's a good one Samantha. I probably would not have thought of that. Reply #LOVEandmarRIDGE 36 agree Reply InTheNameOfLoveridge Reply i tried the generator and it was tres lame for both our last names! mines Challis his is Watts….i got diddly any help? 1 agrees Reply #WattsLoveGotToDoWithIt (ack! 80's music attack!) 26 agree Reply That's pretty good! Reply #turndownforWATT 26 agree Reply #wattsYouTalkinBoutChallis 11 agree Reply I am so upset I came up with #WattsintheChallis (like "What's in the Chalice") Reply Yep, the generator was a bust for me, too, though all the creative silliness of commenters is AWESOME (and more than makes up for my hashtag flop). It turns out, when your names are Stace and Beth, a lot of the hashtag matches look like "bands" (B & S) or "sand" (S & B). But our biggest hurdle is that he's changing his last name sometime before the wedding, and then I'll be taking his new last name. So I expect neither side of the family will be able to remember it enough to use as a hashtag. Plus, the new name will be Kellen, which sounds a lot like "killing"…not exactly wedding friendly. When my brother got married last year, they used the hashtag #WadeWallaceWA (both last names, and the state they married in). I'm definitely in support of a cleverer one. 🙂 Reply #WeAreKellenIt 20 agree Reply I feel the same! The generator felt a bit too generic. My last name is Thorpe and his is Strickland. Help! Reply We actually weren't going to do a hashtag (I'm not terribly active on Instagram) but our photographer pointed out that Facebook does tags now. We went with #House[Lastname] Boy and his father are big GoT/Song of Ice and Fire fans, and it fits with our general geeky theme. 1 agrees Reply my last name is going to be Boal (pronounced bowl) happy to hear suggestions as was just going to use #Boalwedding 1 agrees Reply What about #BoalMeOver or #YouBoalMeOver On a similar note, any ideas for the last name Coffey (pronounced like the drink)? Coincidentally, we're both coffee lovers, so there's gotta be SOMETHING there! (It's probably just too early in the morning for me to think of anything!) 1 agrees Reply #CoffeyLovers is obvious but adorable. Maybe #CoffeyForTwo or #CoffeyExtraLove 12 agree Reply #Coffeytime! #Coffeysbrewing (wait, that kind of makes it sound like someone's pregnant…) #aislebuyyoucoffey (stretching it, I know) #Coffeydate 1 agrees Reply Football references immediately come to mind for me… #TheSuperBoals or #TheLoveBoal 5 agree Reply #ringthemweddingboals … as in wedding bells? Reply #GreatBoalsofFire Reply My name is Annelise and my last name is Montemurro MY Fiance name is Alex and his last name is Jancula. So far we have had no luck with either our firt or last names!!!! Reply #AandAbigday Reply #bringyourAgame 12 agree Reply My fiancé and I just got engaged last weekend, so we haven't given it much thought yet. His last name is Long, so I feel like that should be easy to work with, but we have to be careful not to come up with something like #LongWedding or #ForeverLong. Any ideas? We thought about maybe doing #InItForTheLongRun and incorporating our date/initials. Reply LOVE #InItForTheLongRun 25 agree Reply Ah! So this should be easy – I'm Erin and he is Erik – but nothing seems cute and clever enough. I'm not going to be changing my name from Gough (pronounced Goff) to Peterson so that limits it a bit. Someone suggested #goughingthedistance but I'm not sold yet. Help!! Reply #wegoughmarried? #goughingtothechapel? 2 agree Reply #GoughEnough if you're actually goth 😉 Reply The generator was a win for me. His name starts with an I and mine starts with a K. Our date is Halloween. I never realized that K and I = kandi. #halloweenkandi!! 28 agree Reply #WIN Reply The generator gave me- #HappilyEverKendalls #FinallyKendalls #KendallPartyOf2. Any other ideas? My last name is McCoy, his is Kendall. Reply #McCoyMatrimony #MarriageandtheMcCoys 1 agrees Reply If he is taking your last name: #TheRealMcCoys #AintHeMcCoy or if you're taking his: #TheKendallToEndAll Smashup: #TheMcKendalls #Kendalloy #Mendall Just 'cause: #TheMarriageToKendallMarriages aka #TheWeddingToKendallWeddings #McKendallMarriage #MerryMcKendalls #MarryMcKendall #DammitKendallImaDoctor (<geek humor) #KissingKendall #MarryingMcCoy #ItsEasyMK (In Mr. Garrison's voice from Southpark) #McKendallAlloy (<nerd humor! An alloy is a blend, fusion, mix, etc., particularly of metals) Hope these help! 2 agree Reply I am Kristina, but my family and (now) husband call me Teenie. He is Spencer, but his friends call him Spenny. We mashed them together and came up with #speenie, which was hilarious to me because of the "peen". Our guests were on board. 🙂 4 agree Reply So his last name is Tipton, and the first thing that came to mind was #justthetips, but 1. It's got hundreds of thousands of posts on instagram already, and 2. I'm not trying to go looking for extra ways to offend the elderly (if they'd even get it?) Anyway, I don't know. Beyond that I'm stuck. 1 agrees Reply #ErrbodyInDaClubGettingTipton (a la J-Kwon) 7 agree Reply This is unbelievably clever. Well done. 1 agrees Reply I've done the generator but still can't settle on one that I like. Our last name will be Foster, my name is Samantha (most people call me Sam) and his is Codey. Ha…? 1 agrees Reply I like the #MarGotRobbed one. but #NiceDayForAWilkWedding is my fave!! Well done! Reply #WilkYouMarryMe #AndIWilkAlwaysLoveYou –if you wanna be a little silly, I think that one's fun. 3 agree Reply #GOTWILK Reply Help me! His last name is Pitts…mine is Kight (pronounced Kite). I cannot come up with anything that doesn't sound gross. lol Any ideas?? #pittsparty is what I'm leaning towards but I hope to find something better Reply #PittsureUsSayingIDo #PittsureTime ? 3 agree Reply #Pittspartyof2 #Pittsplus1 #newPittsontheblock 2 agree Reply Okay, I vote for #newPittsontheblock! 15 agree Reply My last name is Biron (Byron) his is Parker.
