Wedding porn: Lifting off together

July 26th, 2007 · Posted by Ariel

space wedding 23Some of you may remember Deana Weibels spacey wedding, but if you want a different take on a space theme check out the photos from Christine and Cameron’s astronaut wedding in Portland this last weekend! Judging by the date stamps on the photos, it looks like it happened at dawn — just like you would expect from a shuttle launch.

In this shot, the two newlyweds prepare for take-off as man and wife, but you really have to check out the whole set to see their awesome officiant and his amazing cape, the couple’s adorable space helmets, and their his & hers space gloves next to their new marriage certificate.

(Thanks to chaosgurlpink for the photo! And congrats!)

Wedding porn: Sarah Snook’s cemetery wedding

July 23rd, 2007 · Posted by Ariel

Sarah SnookI know I said before that your wedding is not a contest, and I still very firmly believe this. That said, I have yet to see a wedding as fabulously goth as Sarah Snook’s. First, read this article to get the story on Sarah and her husband Chase’s cemetery wedding in Cleveland. Then, head over here to see pictures of Sarah’s amazing black dress (a dark remaking of Sarah’s great-great-grandmother’s 1870 wedding dress), the hearse they in rode on, and their vegan chocolate cherry cupcake tree.

Then you tell me: have you ever seen a more deliciously dark wedding?

Wedding porn: Wedding cloaks

July 22nd, 2007 · Posted by Ariel

Look at that cape!I’m betting that many of you are mulling over your Fall 2007 weddings, and I have to say: dude, CLOAKS. I’ve become a big fan of the wedding cloaks and capes. This shot is of an old friend of mine, Susannah, wearing a gold-lined ultra suede cloak at her fall 2002 wedding. (There’s more about Susannah’s Dia de los Muertos wedding in Offbeat Bride.) I loved Suz’s striped tights and boots, too, but this post is about capes. I must focus.

Anyway, if you’re worried about staying warm at your wedding, definitely consider a cloak. I love this elvin style cape, and then there’s the adorable Little Red Briding Hood.

Wedding porn: Pink hair and a turqouise dress

The lovely CoupleI’m not sure what else to say other than swooning and falling out of my chair. I love the hot pink and pale turquoise scheme of Tasche & Matt’s 2005 wedding in East Hoathly, UK — it’s extra awesome when you see the whole wedding party.

Ooh, and the shoes.

…And omg, the cake!

You can check out the whole set, but this this is my favorite shot. Yay for laughs and smiles and pink hair!

Bride profiles: Sarah’s green budget wedding in St. Louis

July 18th, 2007 · Posted by Ariel

The offbeat bride: Sarah, barista

My offbeat groom: Josh, architecture student

Location & date of wedding: County park in St. Louis, MO (May 20th, 2007)

What made our wedding offbeat: I know “green” weddings are quite popular on the coasts, but here in the Midwest, people were stunned. We did our best, on our budget, to be eco-friendly. And our subtle message resonated with our guests, who were all intrigued and asked lots of questions. Our wedding was truly a family affair. Our focus was on having a nice, peaceful, low stress day. Oh, and our goal was to spend less than $2,000. We ended up spending about $2,500, which is probably rounding up, on a wedding with 75 guests.

We kept our own names. I wore Chuck Taylor’s at the reception. Fuck heels.

Wedding porn: Torey’s purple wedding

July 17th, 2007 · Posted by Ariel

DSC_0729I loves me some color coordination, and Torey Flowers’ purple nuptials fit into that fetish perfectly. Look at her awesome purple dress, complete with purple sequins and floaty purple skirt! Look at the coordinating purple veil and bouquet! Check out the purple arch under which she said her vows! And of course, Torey’s purple hair. The purple theme even extended to her purple tattoo!

Check out all Torey’s photos over here.
