Don’t be ashamed. Wedding stories and pictures are like porn for those planning their own nuptials. So turn down the lights, put on some sexy music, and feast your eyes on these fully-clothed offbeat brides and their inspirational weddings. (Share your offbeat wedding story over here.)

The offbeat bride: Kristina, Insurance Maven

Her offbeat partner: Todd, Antique Clock Restoration Expert

Location & date of wedding: The Willows, Radnor, PA. 5-10-2008

What made our wedding offbeat: Our wedding was off-beat because we did it from start to finish our way. My husband works with antiques, so all the centerpieces were from his shop. I didn’t want anything too matchy, and he actually sold a few pieces, which was cool. My Aunt custom wrote our ceremony for us, and performed it. She calls herself an atheist minister. I wrote my own vows, I quoted Miss Piggy (the pig) and Pablo Neruda (the poet).

Wedding porn: Blue bridal up-do

June 18th, 2008 · Posted by Ariel

"the Kiss"I guess it’s wedding hair week on Offbeat Bride — take a look at the amazing blue hair that Lori rocked at her recent Portland wedding, which they dubbed WeddingCon.

The entire wedding looks just lovely, but I’m especially taken with Lori’s up-do. There’s just something awesome about the traditional curls-with-sparkly headpiece look … but in bright blue!

Wedding porn: Beautiful dreadlock up-do

chloeA while back I answered an advice question about how to style your dreadlocks on your wedding day. Well, Chloe here may rocking my very favorite dread style ever.

Tidy with the hairline baby hairs slicked over and a bit formal with those rosebuds — but still fully textured and genuine.

(Thanks to drtoast for the photo, and Amy for bringing the wedding to my attention!)

Offbeat grooms, Wedding porn: Origami wedding flowers

June 14th, 2008 · Posted by Ariel

w15Why kill flowers when you can just make one, in the case of this origami boutonniere.

The bridal party got origami necklaces, origami place cards, the centerpieces and even the bride’s bouquet were made from origami flowers!

Things I like about this adorable couple:

  1. Groom’s cutie curly mohawk
  2. Bride’s dress that hints at gothic, but doesn’t overwhelm
  3. Bride’s proudly displayed bridal ink
  4. Their cute matching skate shoes!

Check out more shots from Brooke and Joe’s wedding. The photographer, Crystal Bock, describes it as “Part gothic-chic, part skater-cool.”

Wedding porn: Let your guests build your bouquet

June 10th, 2008 · Posted by Ariel

Gracious acceptanceHere’s the ultimate DIY wedding bouquet idea: as your guests enter your ceremony venue, give each of them a flower. Or you could even ask each guest to bring a flower as their gift!

Then, when you walk to the altar, you can stop to collect a flower from each guest … assembling your community bouquet as you go. This gives you an awesome opportunity to acknowledge and involve each guest — I like this way better than a receiving line.

What do you get when two British circus performers marry? You get a bride in a candy-apple red dress (made by Miss Katie) with matching candy-apple red pin-up hair, arriving at her courthouse wedding in a gold car with an eye-patched skull on top. You get hottie bridesmaids in little top hats and a fabulous red cake, and from the looks of it, one HELL of a reception.

You’ll find all this and more in the photos from Lucifire and Dave Tusk’s April 2006 wedding. Take your time going through the hundreds of photos on Lucifire’s Myspace. Bonus sweetness: on her website, the bride describes herself as “profoundly, ridiculously, disgustingly happily married.”

(Thanks to Kate for the heads up on these shots!)

I am FREAKING OUT over the photos from this wedding, which took place in a theater and featured a rockin’ bride named Megan in the cutest polka-dot dress with hot pink crinoline.
