Announcing the birth of our sister site: Offbeat Mama!

The average American wedding costs over $25,000. I encourage brides to find innovative, thoughtful ways to reduce their bridal budgets, and if you do choose to spend money, spend it on independent vendors and thoughtfully-made merch like the stuff below…

peep-toe-wedding-shoeOh peep-toe wedding shoes, you little vixens. There's something instantly retro glamor about the peep-toe, especially if you toss in a platform in the front. And maybe a little bow.

That little hint of toe cleavage adds some uber-saucy to a wedding day outfit, and as usual I'm a huge fan of brightly colored shoes even if (or ESPECIALLY if) you're wearing a white dress. I love shoes along the full spectrum of colors … so won't you join me while I get all OMG SHOETH and drool over a rainbow of peep-toe flavors?

LeahandMark.com is the photography team of adorable married couple, Leah and Mark, based out of Atlanta, GA. They've got a truly unique photography style that you don't see very often in the wedding industry…

"Our photos have a cinematic quality reminiscent of films from the 60's, 70's and more recent films like The Royal Tenenbaums. We tend to use a warm palette of colors, which is a departure from the crisp and modern look that many wedding photographers currently produce."

P1020165Hula hoops are fucking awesome for weddings — they make dance-free receptions fun, bachelorette parties ridiculous, and provide endless photo opps.

Yes, I'm biased … the original title of my book was "And The Bride Wore A Hula Hoop" and I stepped down from running hooping.org to focus on offbeatbride.com. This is all to say, I know my hula hoops — and Tailspin Hoops are the real deal.

Tailspin crafts the custom hula hoops that make modern hooping so much fun. These hoops are bigger and heavier than kiddie hula hoops, and Tailspin makes 'em in colors you to match your wedding palette.

Offbeat Discount:
Free shipping when you order four hoops or more, and mention Offbeat Bride!

Tailspin offers a free hoop when you order four or more — and they'll throw in free shipping if you mention you found 'em on Offbeat Bride. So, if you're dreaming of ridiculous good times and awesome photo opps for your wedding, get hooping!

We've introduced you to Austin wedding photographer Whitney Lee and friends several times, and now we'd like to introduce you to their new lead-shooter-in-training Lindsey Baker. Whitney tells us that she's "kind of a deal" because she's not even up on the website yet.

Lindsey recently captured Kati and Hilal's eco-conscious wedding in San Antonio, Texas, that included a raw vegan dinner for their 300 guests and she did a freaking fantastic job of it. Kati, who rocked her amazing dreads in a super neat-o up-do, had her custom dress made to reflect the Victorian femininity and the "Wild West" of the 1800's but modernized. And it is one amazing creation. And whoamygod her shoes are pretty damn incredible as well.

Check out the rest of Lindsey's photos (including one of the most muy romantical first dance photos EVAR) by heading over to the Whitney Lee Photography blog. And then make sure to book Whitney Lee Photography for your Texas wedding and become your own drool-alicious wedding porn!
