The average American wedding costs over $25,000which is completely insane. I encourage brides to find innovative, thoughtful ways to reduce their bridal budgets, and if you do choose to spend money, spend it on independent vendors and thoughtfully-made merch.

Yes, I'm a longtime fan of Wai-Ching dresses, and even wore one to my book release party. But with this silk dress, Chrissy Wai-Ching has truly outdone herself. No seriously:

I love that Chrissy made the groom's dramatic silk tie to match … but really you haven't lived until you've seen the back of the dress. That's where the real party is goin' on…

So you're planning a summer wedding, or a destination wedding, or you're just into comfortable, natural fabrics and don't want to feel suffocated in a sheath of polyester blends and scratchy tulle?

Enter The Cotton Bride, a contemporary couture bridal collection from designer Chris Kole.

Now, if you're thinking = semi hippie and probably like what you'd wear to a picnic, then you haven't seen these modern gowns, which are just as sophisticated as anything you've seen in organza. I've included a few shots of The Cotton Bride's collection below, but you can see lots more cotton wedding dresses on their website.
