Announcing the birth of our sister site: Offbeat Mama!

I'm all for DIY, but sometimes a girl just needs a funky pair of wedding shoes or a perfect set of red fishnets to coordinate with her dress. I have my lusty consumer moments. Don't you? (if you're a vendor who would like to appear on offbeat bride, click here!)

Way back in August of 2007, I featured photos of Carol's flame-licked wedding dress.

…And now, I believe I have finally answered the question of where the dress came from: Mode Merr.

They have 'em in a different lengths and color combos.

If you're into that whole fiery wedding thing, go look.

Tinywater Photography recently posted about Jocelyn & George's Piedmont, California wedding … and it features a few of my favorite offbeat labels … a dress by Wai-Ching, and boots by Fluevog. In fact, I have these same boots in black, and those bitches are HAWT, and even more important for me: super comfortable.

(Budget note: I was able to find the boots for almost half-off a while back on Amazon … but it doesn't look like they're available any more.)

But Jocelyn & George's wedding was about more than just fashion. The bride and groom are both avid birdwatchers, so the whole event was bird-themed including this shot of the bride and groom with their bird-watching binoculars. So cute!

To see more beautiful shots from Jocelyn & George's beautiful bird wedding, head on over to the Tinywater Blog.

When I asked Katie about her amazing 1920s-style wedding headband, she reported that it was the work of Etsy seller Boring Sidney, who makes amazing little hats and headpieces of all sorts.

And if you're looking for lots of vintage wedding inspiration, you must flip through Mario and Katie's wedding pictures. He's a magician, and she's his assistant — so of course their wedding looked like this:

I'm all for white dresses, red dresses, blue dresses, purple dresses, but ZOMG I actually gasped out loud when I saw this picture of Kelly Devoto's fantastical colorful peacock-y wedding dress — which it turns out was actually designed to be a prom dress.

Seriously, it's like a My Little Pony and Tinkerbell totally got it on nasty-style in a magical rhinestone shop and this dress was their sparkling bastard love child. And I mean that in the very best possible way! I'm totally in love.

I've got a detail shot of the bodice and bouquet below, along with the bride's story of where she got the dress. I'm looking forward to telling you much, much more about this Los Angeles wedding some day in the future.

We all know I love Wai Ching wedding dresses — but I've never seen an entire wedding party decked out in Wai Ching. It's hot!

Even the groomsgirl got her own coordinated dress:
