Announcing the birth of our sister site: Offbeat Mama!

Sometimes I invite others to share their wedding wisdom on the offbeat blog. If you're a blogging bride or wedding blogger and you have something you'd like to share, lemme know!

Gaze upon the greatness that is OBT member "Reenie's" geeky, silly, timely, comic book-style wedding invitation!

OBT member Gypsy Marie, aka. Cutiebookworm, and friends, have created some old-timey carnival cutouts for their October wedding. They used a book of circus art for inspiration and came up with these babies…

To tie in some themes from their wedding, the conjoined couple is wearing outfits similar to their wedding clothes, and the werewolf is holding a rubber ducky since they asked guests to draw a duck on their RSVP's.

OBT members can check out the original post by clicking here.

OBT member Angie is a self-described "brew goddess, and competent bride-to-be" and she has shown off both of these attributes by homebrewing her very own pumpkin porter beer for her fall wedding! And she got her "Woman of Awesome" to illustrate the custom labels. How awesome is this!?

Cheers to you Angie. I bet your beer is going to taste as great as it looks, have one (or several) for me.

OBT members can check out a close up of the custom beer label here and everyone can check out her "Woman of Awesome's" Etsy shop with more custom illustrations here.

Forget rice! OBT member Michele has created a more colorful and fun alternative for guests to show their enthusiasm…

Michele explains, "So when all the guests are seated for the ceremony, the four members of our bridal party will pass out the 'yay' flags so everyone can wave them as they wish."

"I wanted to do them out of fabric and print the designs, but time did not permit. Instead, I used some old and slightly sun-faded construction paper and ran it through the printer. This way I was also able to include our names and the date on the back. And instead of gluing them together, I ran them through the sewing machine."

And I say, YAY for these Michele. And YAY for your wedding this Friday! :)

Kelly, aka "Bug" on the OBT, wrote a great wedding update, that perfectly compliments the "your wedding is not a contest" philosophy, and so I thought I'd share it with all of you…

Kelly being smothered to death by wedding dresses.

I'm one of those people that can easily appreciate, sometimes even fall in love with, lots of things that aren't necessarily "me." This makes me a good person to have over to your house after you're done decorating, because I will enthusiastically comment on your color choices, art, purple couch and funky shag rug, etc. And then, even if it's not necessarily my style, I will go home and wonder, "hmm, maybe I should try a purple couch and funky shag rug." Then I will buy it. And three months later I will hate it. I don't know if this because I am easily swayed or if it just means I really do have a broad range of taste when it comes to, well, just about everything.

This personality trait has made wedding planning significantly tougher than I expected.
