Announcing the birth of our sister site: Offbeat Mama!

Offbeat brides usually marry offbeat grooms. Gentlemen, we salute you!

I'm a longtime fan of wings in weddings, but usually it's brides and flower girls wearing wings. It was so refreshing to see Fairylove's wedding gallery, which features several shots of a Hawaiian groom rocking his own set of wedding wings:

The gallery also features what look like ring bearers and bridesmen wearing wings as well! For lots more wing pictures, head on over to Fairylove.

Ok, so my photo collection for GroomsOnSwings.com has had only one photo

Until now!

My comedian/pundit friend Baratunde and his singer/songerwriter bride Mieka were married this summer in Lenox, MA. Baratunde told me, "It was one of the best days of my life … along with the day Obama won and the day I got my first Transformers action figure."

More about these two below, including why Mieka said Baratunde was the true "bride" of the two of them…

Some of you may remember Jon here from a previous post on Offbeat Bride, and you'll be seeing more of his and Julie's wedding later this week, but I just had to give this stylin' groom a post all his own. Because really: this outfit is fucking FAB.

Look at that brocaded jacket with tails!

The hat!

The impeccable specs!

The vest!

The boots!

The ascot! For god sake, look at the ascot!

The best part is that the mother of the bride made parts of the outfit.

But really, the styley-assed groom is just the tip of the iceburg for this Julie & Jon's wedding. You can see a few gorgeous pictures over on the Tinywater Photography blog, and we'll have a full profile of this wedding coming up later this week!

Some of you may remember me griping about how wedding photographers love to shoot women sitting at their partners' feet. Even my beloved Leah Muse has used the "groveling bride/headless groom" pose!

So it's nice to see that Jessica Lewis Photo is flipping the script a bit with her shot of Brandon and Karen here. Bonus: look at how Brandon's hair matches Karen's bouquet!

Brandon is definitely a super stylish rock 'n' roll groom. How much do you love his ruffled tux shirt western string tie? Really, you must go check out all the photos, because the bride is gorgeous and the whole wedding party is smokin' hot.

(PS: thanks to Serena for pointing this wedding out to me, and Jessica Lewis for taking the shots.)

This is what happens when the groom steals the flower girl's wreath…

That said, I think grooms with floral wreaths should become an offbeat trend. The cuteness is too much! (PS: OBT members can admire more photos from this wedding over here.)
