Announcing the birth of our sister site: Offbeat Mama!

Posts tagged with wedsite

Ladies, I have been working on this for months, and I am so excited to announce that I am partnering with Nearlyweds.com to offer wedding websites with exclusive offbeat design templates!

Because really: where else but Offbeat Bride are you going to find wedding websites with rockabilly, goth, peacock, or steampunk themes?

We're totally keeping it in the offbeat family, too: many of the exclusive offbeat templates were designed by Aerin of aeiou design, who's wedding I ogled a few months ago. If there's anyone who truly gets offbeat wedding aesthetics, it's an offbeat bride herself! (PS: Indie designers, here's how you can submit your templates!)

I've also featured Nearlyweds on Offbeat Bride before — of all the bazillions of wedding website services I've tested out, I love love love them the most. I'm a big fan of their web 2.0 features like guest mapping, and I love how if you like your wedding website template, you can get paper invitations that match. They've got online RSVPs, blogging, unlimited photo uploads … all the stuff you'd want, wrapped up in a nice well-designed package. (They're also a Seattle company, and I like my hometown geek-heroes!)

So, enough talk from me … it's time to get started designing your new wedsite! You can sign up for a free trial below. If, after two weeks, you love it as much as I do, you pay $49 … which covers hosting for as long as you want your site up! As a bonus, if you use the promocode offbeatbride, you'll get 10% off.

I hope to be adding new designs regularly, and I'm doing a poll to hear which wedding website templates you'd most love to see:

Getting weddinged, verb

1. The act of having a wedding after you're already legally married.
2. See Jeannie & Aaron of gettingweddinged.com, who got married six years ago for the health insurance, but are now planning their fall 2008 wedding. Or rather, planning to get weddinged.

Remember mywedding.com? They were the offbeat monthly sponsor last August, and they've got a couple new features that y'all should know about:

Mywedding.com1. Wedding invitations that match your website!
This is a feature that's really starting to take off on the web, and with good reason. It's nice to do one-stop visual aesthetic shopping, and mywedding.com's got a great selection of non-froof designs for both web and invites.

2. Social network wedding registry!
Mywedding.com partnered with a Seattle start-up called Wishpot, which allows you to create a wedding registry that goes across stores all across the web. You can add items from any online retailer — and yes, that includes Etsy! Then, your Wishpot registry displays automagically on your mywedding.com free wedsite. (Here's more about how Wishpot works.)

Head on over to mywedding.com and get started today on your free wedding website — and get in on some matching invites and cross-store gift registry.

Hey, web geeks. Last year, I registered ourweddingfaq.com, to go with the joke in the book about wedsites. I never did anything with the URL, and now it's about to expire and it makes me sad because it's a rad URL for a geeky couple's wedsite.

Do any of my offbeat webgeeks want it? I'm happy to give it away, provided you actually use it for your wedsite and maybe link back to offbeatbride.com. All that's required is that you know what to do with a domain — ie, you need to already have web hosting, and know how to deal with your end of a domain transfer.

Anyone interested?
