Wedding porn: Blue bridal up-do

June 18th, 2008

"the Kiss"I guess it’s wedding hair week on Offbeat Bride — take a look at the amazing blue hair that Lori rocked at her recent Portland wedding, which they dubbed WeddingCon.

The entire wedding looks just lovely, but I’m especially taken with Lori’s up-do. There’s just something awesome about the traditional curls-with-sparkly headpiece look … but in bright blue!

chloeA while back I answered an advice question about how to style your dreadlocks on your wedding day. Well, Chloe here may rocking my very favorite dread style ever.

Tidy with the hairline baby hairs slicked over and a bit formal with those rosebuds — but still fully textured and genuine.

(Thanks to drtoast for the photo, and Amy for bringing the wedding to my attention!)

madeline-matthew.jpgKellett Photography has some great pictures up from a recent wedding where the bride wore the most amazing butterfly-emblazoned wedding gown. Not only is the dress stunning, but Madeline paired it with the most amazing knitted shrug. I don’t even know how to describe it, but it’s really inspiring.

Oh-oh, and be sure to check out Madeline’s hair. And the butterfly cake!

I’m hoping I can stalk down the bride and groom online to get more information about this beautiful wedding, but in the meantime, be sure to check out Kellett Photography’s 21 pages of photos. (Thanks to Kathy B. for sending this to me!)

The table-settings are so happy they’re almost rainbow-bright. Julie’s floral dress with the cheetah shrug makes me want to go dancing. The five-tier wedding cake has zebra stripes, a singing Elvis, and skulls. Oh, and Julie’s hair is pretty much to die for.

This is NOT a wedding for the modern minimalists, but if you love kitschy retro fabulousness, you must check out the full set.

(Thanks to Julie Cupcake for the photo!)

I have short hair and have no interest in growing it out for the wedding. When I do searches for short hairstyles, you would not believe the psychotic blowout do’s that come up. Where can I find a good selection of cool short hairstyles online? -Nicole

Nicole, look no further! I’m not sure how short you mean by short (inch-long pixie cut or chin-length bob?) or whether you’re curly or straight or wavy, but regardless short hair means you can go high drama with your style. I went and scoured the archives and a few of my favorite shots from the photo pool, and here’s what I came up with for you …
