The Offbeat Bride: Alison

Her offbeat partner: Heather

Location & date of wedding: The Inn at the Lambertville Station, Lambertville NJ — 9/27/09

What made our wedding offbeat: The fact that the bride to groom ratio at this wedding was 2:0 made it kinda offbeat. Though, all gayness aside, we went all-out and DIYed everything about this wedding. You name it, we made it.

Other than that it was pretty "typical," white dress, table numbers, flowers, reception… Oh well, there were a few other offbeat things. First and foremost, when it came to the music Heather said, "I want it to sound like we're at a cheesey 80's prom!" I said, "Yes! Lets do it!" So the 19th century train station was jammin' with sweet 80's tunes the whole night.

as002-11016The offbeat bride: Simone, Customer Service (and OBT member "Monie")

Her offbeat partner: Daryl Child Care Worker

Location & date of wedding: Foxglove Spires Garden, Tilba Tilba N.S.W Australia — October 31st 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: My husband and I were married on Halloween this year, much to everyones surprise I wore white (everyone was expecting me to wear black so I guess that's offbeat for me in itself). There were Converse chucks, a lolly buffet, Polaroid guest book and transformers cuff links; little touches that although have been used many times before, really reflected the personality and feel of our bridal party.

The offbeat bride: Suzie, kindergarten teacher and student (and OBT member "Suzie Müllner")

Her offbeat partner: Martin, electrician and photographer

Location & date of wedding: 8th district of Vienna — 24.07.09

What made our wedding offbeat: We decided to forget about this traditional Austrian wedding stuff, because that's not really us. So, the location was clear, we didn't want the wedding in the wedding office in our district (because this one was just next to the pathological morgue) and offbeat places for weddings are nearly impossible to organize and pay for here in Austria. So we had it in the wedding office in the old town of Vienna.

Marie-Eve WeddingThe offbeat bride: Marie-Eve, graphic designer

My offbeat groom: Vincent, maître d'hôtel

Location & date of wedding: Manoir des Érables's gardens, in Montmagny (a little city in the province of Québec, Canada) June 16, 2007

What made our wedding offbeat: We wanted to get married only if it was to be in our way. We wanted something simple and fun. We enrolled my aunt Lucie to be our "minister" and we wrote the whole ceremony together, with vows speaking of chicken soup and gigs we attended through the years.

"I want it to be FUN, not PERFECT" was my mantra

We choose our readings from children books and Beatles songs and wrote a special one for our family members. We also had a few of my sister's friends playing some wonderful live music: we walked in on "Here comes the Sun" and run out on "All you need is Love."
