Location & date of wedding: Church: OLPH, Lindenhurst, NY. Hall: Larkfield Manor, E. Northport, NY — August 14, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: The first thing we decided on is that the entire menu would be vegetarian. This scared some people, including my mother, but at the end of the day everyone loved it.

The offbeat bride: Heather, Publicist and Fashion Historian (and OBT member "HeatherVaughan")

Her offbeat partner: Jacob, Geologist (artist and DJ)

Location & date of wedding: Alvarado Park, Richmond, CA — 09/19/2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We definitely had an unusual theme — Vintage 1930s (a la "The Thin Man" series), But we also had an all-vegetarian lunch-time reception outdoors in a park with no electricity — meaning we weren't going to do some things that weren't as important to us, like dancing late into the night (we had to be out by six). We tried to focus on what WAS important to us which, as it turned out, was spending as much time with the family and friends present as possible. The people made it offbeat — their attitudes and attire included!

The offbeat bride: Libby, Pediatric Office Manager/child holder-downer (and OBT member)

Her offbeat partner: Jobe, Central Office Tech

Location & date of wedding: Columbia Park, Portland, OR. — July 26th, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: Jobe wanted a court house wedding, but I have a lot of important friends and family that I wanted to share our day with (I'm a cancer survivor, and eight years ago I wasn't sure if I would ever get to this point in my life). I just wanted to have a big party with vegan and vegetarian food, and promised Jobe a three – five minute ceremony.

The Offbeat Bride: Mysi, Fledgling Photographer (and OBT member "mysi anne")

Her Offbeat Partner: Craig, Photographer, Journalist, Historian, Constant Student

Location & date of wedding: Lake Summerset Lodge, on Lake Summerset in Davis, Illinois. My parents have a summer house there and we wanted to honor their favorite place. — 7.11.09

What made our wedding offbeat: Our whole wedding was planned with this in mind: we'd each been to ONE wedding in our lives. We wrote our ceremony and during the vows, we each asked each other: "Will you navigate the Great Material Continuum with me?" (We fell in love watching seven seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine).

Cork Tattoo Wedge PumpOoh, it's time for another edition of Foot Fetish, where-in I inflict my questionably loud taste in special occasion footwear uponst my willing offbeat victims!

This week, I'm focusing on veggie-friendly heels. From as best as I can tell, all these shoes are all made with non-animal products — most of them are rubber, synthetic, or satin uppers with man-made soles and insoles. The advantage of man-made materials? Yes they're nicer to our animal friends, but they're often also cheaper than leather. The disadvantage? Sometimes quality ain't forever-wear awesome — but that's the joy of wedding shoes: hopefully you only need to wear 'em once!

So, without further ado, let's dive into some crazy/fabulous cruelty-free wedding footwear. As always, click on the shoe picture to view more information, as you imagine these fabulous-but-animal-friendly beauties peeking out from under the hem of your wedding dress:
